The Sportsman
Selling: Home-Cooked Dishes
The kitchen here prides itself in that most of the food used is sourced within 10 miles, though the salt marsh lamb comes from just across the road, and the chicken and pork from within a couple of miles. Dishes like smoked mackerel with gooseberry jelly and soda bread, Seasalter ham terrine, roast 'Westerham Farm' chicken with the roasting juices, and seared thornback ray with cockles and brown butter and sherry vinegar dressing, you?re in for a fantastic treat.

You always need to book to be sure of a table, but it is well worth the phonecall. The food is all fresh, anything left over at the end of the night is thrown away. Deserts often have a twist , try the chocolate hot mousse with caramel sauce in the bottom and rock salt between the mouse and caramel layer-out of this world! The staff are enthuastic about what they serve and the chef takes a real pride in what comes out of the kitchen. He employs locals and the food is locally sourced free range and top quality. You can even buy a local painting while you eat here!
Fantastic staff who really know their food and wine are just the start of a great dining experience. The food is great, well sourced and imaginatively put together. They balance innovation with tradition to produce soul warming fare. Thoroughly recommend.
