It is refreshing to be able to purchase such a wide range of excellent and unusual traditional potato varieties by mail order. These potatoes are in sharp contrast to the more common, often lacklustre, varieties that are available in the supermarkets. We have tried several kinds of Carroll's potatoes and our favourite is the salad blue, which is surprisingly versatile. Lucy and Anthony are very enthusiastic. They have been very helpful to us and have even given us advice on growing salad blues. Keep up the good work!

Without people like Lucy & Anthony making an effort to grow great and interesting local produce we wouldn't be able to offer the diversity of food in our Rothbury deli that we do.

We hear a lot about disappearing varities of apple, but what about the equally threatened potato varieties? To be able to purchase such a wonderful variety of potatoes is nothing short of miraculous.

Lucy (and the rest of the team) is brilliant, and the quality of their produce is exceptional. Moreover, they are fairly local, which I deem to be a very important ethos for my company. They supply my bespoke in-house catering/personal chef service business with the finest potatoes, which all my clients rave about. My potato of choice is the Ratte for a number of dishes: sublime pomme puree, pan-roasted in a little goose fat, superb in salads, or sauteed. The Yukon Gold variety is outstanding for roasting and baking. I look forward to Carroll's growing and gaining further recognition, and continuing to supply me as my businesses grow. What makes Heritage Potatoes special is that the company are not just producing uniquely delicious potatoes but also encouraging us to be aware of taste, texture, colour and which variety is suitable for which dish. In other words educating us in the finer points of some wonderful old fashioned potatoes - tasting the way potatoes used to taste. J. MacHarg

Carroll's Heritage potatoes have revived long established species such as Dunbar Rover and the delicious Ratte. Lucy and Anthony are a young Northumbrian couple who have worked incredibly hard to revive these delicious species. They taste like potatoes used to and include a great range of shapes and colours for any meal. You can have roast blue potatoes or boiled red, white and blue!

These potatoes are the best, the taste is just fantastic no matter how you cook them. I have grown my own for years but now I am wondering why. It is so easy to order these, they arrive quickly and that leaves my potato beds free to grow other things.Carole Millington, Isle of Skye.

If anyone ever says all potatoes taste the same, stop them and tell them to try some fantastic Heritage Potatoes. The different textures and flavours and even colours are to be truely marvelled at because these Heritage potatoes not only provide a you with a variety of potatoes for different meals, with the tastes to match. Now who would have thought the humble spud could do that? After meeting Mr & Mrs Carroll at various farmers markets it appears that these Heritage potatoes are taking off with local and national retailors/hotelliers (you can get them at Berwick Garden Centre). Even the names are amazing,Dunbar Rover,Ratte, and Yukon Gold. But its the taste that counts, and these potatoes taste great!! Try them!
