Consumers opt for ethnic foods

More consumers are choosing to buy ethnic foods, such as Polish products.

More and more Brits are choosing to try ethnic foods, such as Polish products, it has emerged.

As reported by Meatinfo.co.uk, the World Food Market at Excel saw a number of exhibitors from 20 countries hoping to forge links with retailers.

Stands from Poland, Russia, Ukraine and Romania were seen at the event for the first time, the publication notes.

One firm, Polish Specialities, is seeing its popularity grow and not just with immigrants from the country now living in the UK.

"We find the Polish product is increasingly being bought by people of English origin," sales manager Colin Ashton told the news source.

"The quality of Polish meat is much higher because the water content is very low," he added.

However, the one Welsh company noted that this year has been "very quiet" for them.

Welsh lamb is currently the subject of an advertising boost, with a new cinema advert promoting the meat until November 29th.
