Description
Cheerful owner PJ created a pie pub because he thought people would enjoy it, and he was right! Be sure to book in advance because PJ makes every pie to order and every pie is different. Choose from deer and duck, gammon and parsnip, and ten other wonderful flavours. Ingredients are sourced locally where possible and game is supplied by local gamekeeper Drew Doggitt.

This is a fabulous place - we have eaten PJ's fabulous pies, had Sunday lunch and the food and ambiance never fails to please and satisfy. We been as a couple, as a family and as group of seniors and PJ has coped almost single handedly with us all. Enjoy the souveners of PJs time as a pilot - our grandson loved it.

Unique, personal service, extremely friendly, unusual and outstanding fayre - pies that you won't find anywhere else served with amazing vegetables, and for a very reasonable price. Once you've been here - you'll be back with your friends....

We walked in and were greeted by PJ. He introduced us to Matt behind the bar then left us to enjoy the homely comfort of his pub as he went to finish cooking our meals. The food was beyond compare. For atmosphere, taste and a good night out with good company this pub has to be the best place I have ever eaten. Well worth the trip. PJ is justly proud of his food in this eating experience without compare.

PJ's is an absolute "must" for anyone who seeks something different when eating out. You always get a wonderful welcome and are well looked after at the table by the host himself. PJ's music and his continental flair together with his delicious home cooked food provide the perfect place for relaxing at the end of a busy week and for getting together with friends.

There's not a single person we've introduced the pie pub to who hasn't loved it - and we do too! My only problem is that the Steak and Mushroom pie is too good to ever try another one...as if the superb food weren't enough, expect a lovely pub in a great part of the country with a superb host and chef. Excellent with kids too, which is something.

This has grown out of an idea PJ had about 7 years ago and another business. He has worked very hard and is a hero. He deserves any success he gets.

PJ's Pie Pub is the home of my Local Food Hero - Mike PJ! If you like pies ..... proper pies (with the gravy/sauce filling a seperate boat and not the pie becuse that is full with all the meat/game/fish) then you have to come here. The pub is your home-from-home 'public house' and Mike PJ is your old fashioned landlord, except he is also the Chef, Pot Wash and Waiter. How he manages to regulary feed 25 people with homemade pies and run the bar is in itself worth an award! ...... But let me tell you about the pies ....... A choice of pies, depending on season, from 10 to 15 options, each is individually cooked (although for large events, big pies to share are available) and served with one of half a dozen of PJ's bespoke Gravy/Sauces. Added to this is a generous offering of simply cooked mixed vegetables, sautéed potatoes and an excellent baked cauliflower cheese. Desserts are honest and simple. And, being only a few miles away from Melton Mowbray, if you are easting with a group, a mature, creamy half Stilton can be provided for the cheese course. And I have not even mentioned the excellent cask ale (local brewery), beers, wine and Mike PJ's extensive 'what's your tipple?' selection of bottles collected during his many journeys around the world. Don't just take my word for it, give PJ a ring and order your pie (each one is made to order depending on availabiltiy of filiing) and try it out for yourself!

Beautiful pies that melt in the mouth, made with succulent meat and fish that tastes supreme. Great atmosphere, a brilliant landlord that will make sure that you have a fabulous night. All meat is sourced locally and the pub is the centre of this small farming community. Independently owned and traditionally maintained Pubs like PJ's are rare in England now and should be supported by competitions such as this.
