I don't need a nick name, 25 Jul 2007 3.41 pm

I moved in to the area a year ago and I can't stop visiting this place. I've loved food shopping for years and this place is very special indeed. The quality of all the home smoked food is superb. We love the bacon so much that we had to have some the morning after we got back from hospital with our first baby. The dressed crabs from Cumbrae are the freshest we've ever tasted. All the fresh fish has been marvelous, not one duff. We had the most wonderful poached salmon and shellfish platters for our wedding party the night before, as well as super fish pies. The bread is so good we also have a spare in the freezer. We have made many people very happy with the sticky toffee pudding and its gooey sauce. Topping up with all the other things is a joy whether it's oatcakes or olive oil, or Arran Whisky or one of the wines from the great selection that includes carefully chosen full-bodied tasty Portuguese house red, Condrieus and old Chateauneufs, as well as interesting Rieslings, not to mention mouthwatering dessert wines and tawny ports. I've always been impressed with the welcome, the enthusiasm, the willingness to help and the knowledge. It's the best food shop for miles and miles around and an example to any British shop. The lobster season is just getting underway. We saw the owner getting his criels ready last week, so we'll be back next Monday to see what's in, but not before we've been back for some of the excellent home grown cabbage and apple fir potatoes. Bravo!

I have always loved dropping by the shop to pick up the wonderful bacon and hot smoked salmon. The oysters are to die for!! The staff are always friendly and willing to go that extra mile if you are looking for that little extra. Now that the local farmers market is based there I get great organic produce just down the road!!

I regularly purchase excelent quality trout, salmon and other seafood at Fencebay's stall at Loch Lomond Shores Farmers Market. The staff are extremely helpful and are very friendly. My wife and I have both recommended to friends and family.

The smell of the smoked goods - streeky back bacon cooked crisp and broken onto dressed mixed leaves and sun blush tomatoes, the squat lobsters - sweet orange gems sold cooked or raw for home cooking and landed only a few hours previously, the smoked trout pate from their own fishery and by their own smokehouse, the fresh fish, the cheeses and Tom's tips and tastings! Brill - and it is on my doorstep!

Every two weeks at queens park market... yum! the hotsmoked salmon, trout pate on charcoal biscuits, and the gorgeous monkfish and lemon sole for a real treat! best thing about the fresh salmon is : to cook, you only need to place under the grill - grill it till skin burns - perfect! moist and tasty. friendly blokes too!

We stock up regularly from Fencebay fisheries at Falkirk farmers market. They are always helpful, friendly and give helpful cooking and serving advice. Their produce always tastes lovely.
