Christmas doesn't start until you go to Eastwoods for Mulled Wine & Mince Pies and a chat to Joe (oh, and to collect the most gorgeous Turkey for Christmas Dinner!) The sausages are fabulous, the pies to die for and you always get a warm welcome and even recipe ideas from the staff. SUPERB!

Berkhamsted is really fortunate to have Eastwoods, which has won numerous awards for its meat and prepared dishes. We have never bought any meat at Eastwoods that was less than excellent, and the lamb is the best we have ever eaten. I rarely decide in advance what I am going to buy as I know I will be spoilt for choice in the shop, where service is knowledgeable and helpful. People who buy their meat elsewhere have no idea what they are missing!

We moved in just over a year ago just down the road from this fantastic butchers... since the first sausages we tasted - they don't shrink in the pan and are sooo tasty and varied. We said no other sausage could taste as good... then we went to our local pub for breakfast and they had some amazing sausages... that is when we noticed that they were supplied by Joe too! But it is not just the sausages that are good at Eastwoods, the staff are very friendly... we find ourselves returning weekend after weekend for our meat and there is always something new and interesting to try which always tastes amazing!

My husband and I discovered Eastwoods some years ago when looking for a Q butcher who could help us with extra turkey legs for Thanksgiving dinner. Ever since we have bought our Thanksgiving turkey from Eastwoods with much appreciation from our regular annual attendees for the dineer. Joe's meats are superb, especially the wonderful beef, however the thing for us that really sets this butchers apart from all others is the warm atmosphere and great banter that is present. All the other customers at the shop whenever we have been there are like members of one large family! You must try this shop.

If you want 'happy meat', this is the place to come. When I moved just around the corner from Eastwoods five years ago I couldn't believe my luck - the best butcher I have ever encountered and right on my doorstep. You always get a friendly welcome and, as mentioned by other reviewers, Joe has an amazing memory for his customer's names. The quality of the meat is unsurpassable as is the service - no job too big or too small. Barbeques are well catered for with many ready prepared and marinated goodies to tempt any palate - don't miss out on the Braveheart steak - it's wonderful straight off the barbie and in the unlikely event that any is left over, delicious cold. Christmas is also well catered for at Eastwoods - just ask anyone waiting in the queue. Finally, when you just can't think of anything for dinner, the staff will help you with a choice of ready prepared dishes with good advice on cooking times, etc.

I was lucky enough to be introduced to Eastwoods at a very young age when I was left a Chicken Pie to have for my supper by some people I was babysitting for. I started shopping there myself somewhere in the region of 9 years ago and still look forward to my Sunday roasts which are always divine. A leg of lamb on a Sunday followed by Shepherds Pie on a Monday made out of the leftovers - wonderful. The quality is exceptional and the service is friendly and helpful. The staff at Eastwwods are always happy to explain about the meat and how best to cook it, ensuring that the results are superb every time. Now the Hogroasts are something else, I am still waiting for my special day when I can book Joe to not only provide the meat, but to cook it and serve it too - perfect!!

A wonderful shop full of fantastic meats served to you by the very friendly and highly knowledgeable Joe and his team. The beef is to die for, but then so is the lamb, the chicken, the sausages, the pork pies..........the list goes on and on. It is an absolute pleasure to shop here, Joe is a true gent who takes time to talk to all of his customers, knows everyone by name and will happily lend out his Bob Dylan C.Ds to my husband!

The quality is simply superb. I go in there with a list & always come out with twice the amount because everything looks so tempting. The pies are sumptous & the olives simply melt in your mouth. Also you know Joe's suppliers are conscious of their animal welfare
