Perfect basmati rice: boiling method

For any one who struggles with the absorption method of rice cooking, Jo Pratt suggests boiling basmati rice in the same way as pasta. Watch the video to learn her fool-proof technique.

Always rinse the rice thoroughly in a sieve before cooking. Then add it to a large pan of boiling water. The rice will take 10-12 minutes to cook on a medium high heat. Once it’s ready, drain well and allow to stand in the sieve for 3 minutes. This will help the rice to finish steaming through for a perfect al dente texture. Finally, use a fork to separate the grains and create perfect, fluffy basmati rice.

Hi Erica, we're afraid that you can only view our videos in the UK and you must have Flash - could it be either of these issues? Let us know because if not, we'll try to help.
