Kitchen Scissors

Kitchen scissors differ from other household scissors in that they have longer blades. One blade is usually serrated so that the scissors can cut through gristly meat or fish. The best scissors are made from stainless steel, which doesn't rust and is easy to keep clean.

Kitchen scissors can be home to unwanted bacteria between the blades. If you use your scissors for shearing poultry or fish, you're better off with a pair that unscrew so you can give them a thorough clean between the blades.

Use your scissors for snipping herbs, sun-dried fruit and vegetables, making holes in pastry crusts, trimming steaks and chops, and dicing bacon. To help prevent the spread of bacteria, don't use your scissors for anything other than kitchen jobs.
