Fruit/tomato Knife
Helpful Tools
Ever tried to slice a tomato then ended up with ragged skin and squashed flesh? This happens because anything with a pulpy interior and firm gets squashed by the pressure needed to cut the skin.
The serrated blade of the marvellous fruit/tomato knife effortlessly cuts through tomato, peppers and fruit skins leaving a perfectly smooth edge. It works a treat with salami and French bread too.
This knife is ideal for intricate chopping jobs - making salsa, for instance - where you want neat little cubes with perfect edges. It also makes light work of dicing onions, celery and carrots, or any slicing job where you feel a larger knife is too unwieldy. It's a good idea to buy two, keeping one for onions and garlic.
Knife care
Just rinse and wipe after use, but don't leave to soak as this may damage the blade. Some of the better-quality knives are dishwasher-proof: check first.
As with all knives, store them safely in a knife block or on a magnetic rail. Don't let them rattle around in a drawer unless the blade has a cover.
