Mitch Tonks

Born in 1966 Mitch spent the first 24 years of his life by the sea; sailing on it, skiing on it and fishing in it. After working as an accountant Mitch decided to fulfil his passion for seafood by opening a specialist fishmonger in Bath.

This proved to be a huge success both personally and commercially, and lead to the creation of the acclaimed FishWorks chain of seafood restaurants, which now numbers 13 quality fishmongers, restaurants and cookery schools in London and the South West.

Mitch’s latest venture opened in May 2009, The RockFish Grill & Seafood Market in Bristol, a year after opening the Seahorse Restaurant in Dartmouth. The latter also has its own launch, the Pearlfisher, which can collect and return customers across the river. The independent called it ‘The Ivy by the sea’.

Mitch has appeared on several episodes of Market Kitchen, and proved so popular, we decided to give him his own show. In Mitch and Matt’s Big Fish, Mitch is accompanied by Matt Dawson as they travel the UK to explode a few myths surrounding fish in the UK and cook up delicious dishes in a bid to spread the love of fish!
