bring back Jeni Barnett and good food live

I agree with all that has been said and so long after great food live and jenni B was taken from us....bring back great food live with Jenni at the helm..not to mention all the chefs. I never watch this channel as the programes just dont match Jenni.
Can't we at least have the re runs of all the shows....that would surely prove how much it has been missed. Frown

can anyone help with wheat and egg free recipes.

I recently learnt that i am wheat and egg intollerant. I didn't realise how much of what we eat contains wheat and eggs.

Does anyone know of an excellent recipe book containing substitute recipes for things like cakes, decedent desserts, pastry etc?

As all books i've found avoid all these food types....at present it feels like I'm missing out on the good stuff!!

Change to website

hi....your right on all counts. but i recon that the site and it's users changed dramatically once great food live was stolen from us, and replaced with that terrible show market kitchen.
As once upon a time the chefs would join in the chat too!!
It's all abit lame now whether it's the site or the channel.

RESTAURANTS IN DUBLIN

Hi whity......I'm so jealous...I lived in dublin for around 7 years. As to good restaurants there are so many but my favourites are..... Manifesto - it's a small
family run Italian wouldnt be out of place on the Amalfi coast. It's on rathmines road upper, Rathmines tel: . Also if you like Thai food Diep Noodle in Ranalegh it's modern, funky with fab food . If your looking to impress head to the morrison hotel on the liffy....amazing place to stay, to eat or just to go for a drink in the Lobo bar downstairs!
Have a brilliant time in an amazing city.

zoom zoom,

Looks like I'd better apply for that job quickly...along with full body armour and insurance!!! Big Grin

As to alot of what you have said I can not comment on it as i don't have the facts relating to those points...as i have said before. You will need to wait for Frank to respond to those!!

Although i will comment on the pricing and menu as a customer rather than a friend - i personally did not find that he had over priced the menu considering the quality of food and wine etc on them.

I also agree with what jimbob said in his last post and want to make his point again!

I hope that if and when Frank does set up again that people will give him the benefit of the doubt, and allow him to learn from Lemoncello without having it thrown at him time and again.

In the mean time i'd better pre-pare that c.v!!

Jimbob...you are so right!! As for fighting his corner...that goes without saying...I'd do it for any friend...that's what they're for when the going gets tough. For if friends don't fight your corner who will?!!

csfp as i said earlier I cannot speak for Frank and his dealings with the locals in Amersham ...but there is nothing i can say that will change any of your opinions concerning Frank and Lemoncello that i can see!!
Looks like we are just going to have to agree to disagree...as the person i know is so far removed from what you describe. As i said earlier the person i know is kind, respectful and considerate, one of the best you'll ever meet...but alas we all react in defence when protecting our own!! xxx

Frank Bordoni's restaurant

jimbob you summed that up brilliently...people were too busy comparing Lemoncello with other Italian themed eateries, that they forgot to accept it and enjoy it for what it was....a wonderful restaurant with good food, and lovely staff who i found could never do enough to serve and look after the clientel. I look forward to his new venture hopefully it will still be in the area.... although not grumpy Amersham!!

zoomzoom I don't know about Franks relationship with the locals, but the problem with the British public is that they have not yet learnt to give constructive feedback or how to complain with out alianating the establishments concerned...while showing respect and understanding. Thats generally why we don't get the service that we would love to have on a daily basis... due to our way of complaining we don't get heard, as their defences go up - and i don't care what anybody says when you put in your blood, sweat and tears...business is personal!!

Maybe Frank should employ me as his consumer relations and service manager......how about it Frank?!!!

I wish you all the luck in the world my friend....see you soon.xxx

We all have our opinions and it's free country to voice them in, but I find it very hard to sit back and hear a friend discussed, concerning an obviously difficult time for them.Alot of whats being said is supportive and i imagine Frank is apprieciative for that, but I can't believe that concidering circumstances Eaton's still putting the boot in....nothing like kicking a man when he's down where it hurts...with i told you so's etc. Frank has no doubt make some mistakes like we all do, but because he's a celeb people forget he's human. He's also an amazingly kind and considerate guy...you don't meet much better. How about giving him a break and being supportive instead of critical??? Roll Eyes xxx

Frank Bordoni's restaurant

What to say.....i agree with jimbob it's such a shame. It was an amazing restaurant with spectacular food and wine. I class Frank as a friend and have already offered my support....I originally signed on to say it must be hard enough to work as hard as he does and to end here. However brief the stop but to have it in public domain and discussed must be even harder....i've been there! But....in starting this post i suddenly realised that all you are doing is offering support....i take all those thoughts and anger back!!

So for the record... good luck frank and here's to the future...what doesn't break us makes us stronger. Cry Hug xxx

Has it shut for good or is it a temporary thing for refurb???

eating out in Dublin

Hi Suz,

Your going to an amazing city of which i lived in for seven years with some fab restaurants.
For Irish food if you head down to the river Liffy on the north side, as you walk down to the point theatre you will pass a lot of hotels some of which had traditional bars and restaurants, you will need to walk down a fair way the best one cant remember name of but the outside if building is black!!. You'll find good irish food there. Also if you like Italian you should try Manifesto in Rathmines owned by Antony, small and family, for thai try noodle diep in Ranalegh ....all a short walk or taxi from city centre and reasonably priced.
Hope this is of help have a great time.x Big Grin

Frank Bordoni's restaurant

Totally agree with the godfather a while ago when I put on my last post I wrote a constuctive letter to Lemoncello stating all I thought good and bad. There is no point moaning its better to do something posititve. Frank personally came back to me on the points I had raised.....fair play for him taking the time and posititve customer service. I have since been back and he has made a huge change in service etc...esp the tv!! I'm so pleased as my first visit was spectacular and my recent have been amazing. The problem with him being a celeb is that we expect sooo much more from him and forget he is human. We pay high prices for everything these days at least here we are getting quality in the foods we are eating. You also forget we pay for the name....could be worse Gino charges something like £10,000 to cook you dinner!!!! Cool

Hi Frank,

I respect the fact you have taken the time to read the posts, and take on board what has been said. To be honest i disagree with whats been said about your wine list and menu being over priced. Your prices reflect the quality of food that you are serving....although it would be nice to be able to buy Borollo by the glass.
As to the tv yes it is a bit of fun and i don't believe it's about ego. It is very much who you are and what you do, but we already know that and it destroys any ambience that you have created. Your customers if they want to watch Frank tv can just put on great food live at home......why come out to watch it?! I can't wait to try the new menu as I trust it is as good as the present one! Smile

Frank Bordoni's restaurant

Totally agree about what has been said about Franks lemoncello concerning the plasma tv.....what is he thinking? In the past it has not been on and the restaurant has been amazing. I don't think that it's over priced as i found the food and wine spectacular and the wine amazing. But the tv a big NO NO it lowers the tone.

Wed 17 Jan 2007, 11.31AM

Frank Bordoni's restaurant

Having eaten at Lemoncello several times i wanted to respond to several of the above.....the food is amazing, the wine fantastic and the service is very good. Yes it is not in the low price range but the prices reflect the quality.
As for paper napkins....they are high quality ones so you'd have to be looking for a bad point to notice, nit picking!
