Edge of Existence: About the show
This series sees popular investigative journalist Donal MacIntyre put his life on the line as he tries to live at the absolute limits of human habitation.
Throughout the world there are places so inhospitable that humans cannot survive there in the long term. From the high altitudes in Bolivia to the extreme heat of Oman, Edge Of Existence shows what it is like to live in these extraordinary destinations.
Combining survival know-how, journalistic observation, anthropology and physical challenges, the outcome will never be certain for Donal, who experiences these places first-hand.
Donal visits some of the most spectacular places on the planet, including Quechuan Indians 5,100ft above sea level in Bolivia, witnessing sacred rituals and ceremonies; tracking the Bajau Laut tribe in Borneo, who spend their entire lives on boats; meets the Bedouins of Oman, who endure extreme heat and lack of rain, and puts his life at risk when he spends time with the cannibalistic Insect Tribe of Papua New Guinea.
