Giant Wood Spider (face sized) in India - Oct 2008

Here's my photo (got a little too close for comfort as it was the size of my face) of a Giant Wood Spider (sometimes known as Golden Orb Web Spider [Nephila Maculata]) when we were trekking in Periyar National Park in Southern India at the end of October 2008. This fascinatingly huge spider makes the strongest and largest webs in the world and people use their webs as fishing nets, they're that strong.
