1: The Gestalt Entity

No, "gestalt entity" isn't a bad guy from the show. It's actually how Grant Naylor, the show's creator and writer, liked to refer to itself.

And that's because Grant Naylor was greater than the sum of its parts. To put it less pretentiously, Grant Naylor was actually two people: comedy partners Rob Grant and Doug Naylor. These talented chaps wrote series one to six together – at which point Rob got itchy feet and left, leaving Doug to work on series seven and eight with a bunch of other writers.
