Top Ten Top Gear Stunts
There was a time when Top Gear was just a car review programme - a sober source of valuable advice and expert know-how. Then they decided it was time to have a little fun. Playing darts with cars and blowing caravans up type fun. But what have been the 10 most unusual and memorable stunts so far? We've got them right here...
10: Arthritis versus acne
We begin our list with one of the more genteel Top Gear stunts (nothing was blown up or crushed). The team wanted to pit a classic car against a modern pimpmobile, so they enlisted the help of two teams. One consisted of the Austin Healey Sport Club, who "like tweeds and beards and beer with soil floating in it". Their car was a classic, no-frills 1961 Austin Healey. The other team comprised some shifty looking youths (or "yoofs"?) whose Peugeot 306 was a souped-up speedster complete with three TVs and a PlayStation. Logic said the pimpmobile would win, but tradition triumphed when the Austin Healey completed a lap in quicker time. As James May concluded: "Age and a little bit of facial hair is what it takes to win."When is it on?
