After a stint in Hollyoaks, Natalie Casey made the move into sitcoms, playing the feisty Donna in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. And she's never looked back...

You had a chart hit at the age of three - tell us how that came about?

"The song was Chick Chick Chicken. It all happened because there were these nationwide auditions to appear on Saturday Superstore, if you remember that series. You had to be over seven to audition, so my older sister decided to give it a go. Not knowing any better, I followed her on the stage and started singing like mad. Instead of being shooed off, I was invited by some TV execs to sing the Chicken song on Saturday Superstore. Then a record producer decided to put the song out as a single, and that was it."
What's this we've heard about you in a toilet with Boy George...?

"Ah, that was when I appeared on Saturday Superstore as well. I was milling around the studio when I realised I badly needed to go to the loo, so I approached the nearest adult woman and asked them to take me. Only later did I realise the ‘adult woman’ was Boy George, who was there for an interview with Mike Reid."

"Well after my early ‘pop career’, I turned up in a couple of commercials and eventually found myself auditioning for Hollyoaks, which I was in for five years. I decided to leave because it’s very easy to get typecast if you’re in a soap, and Two Pints was too good to resist."
How do you cope with being a familiar face?

How do you cope with being a familiar face?

"It’s only since Two Pints that I found myself getting noticed on the street. I’m fortunate because I’m known for comedy and that means people tend to be nice towards you. If you make your name as a soap baddie, the reaction on the street can be very hostile."
Do you and your Two Pints co-stars get on in real-life?

Do you and your Two Pints co-stars get on in real-life?

"We’re all very close. It wouldn’t work otherwise, because a sitcom like that depends on natural chemistry between people. We have a great time on set, and hopefully that comes through in the show."
Where would you most like your career to take you?

Where would you most like your career to take you?

"Well, I would love to star in a musical like West Side Story, but if that never happens I’d be just as happy to move abroad and open a bar with my sister and mum. A real family affair. That would be fantastic."
