Should I Worry About...?
We're constantly bombarded with new things to be afraid of. But don't lock yourself in your living room in anticipation of the apocalypse just yet – Richard Hammond is here to help.
Richard Hammond's look at the nation's biggest fears may seem like a hypochondriac's dream, but Should I Worry About...? is much more than just a scare-fest. So are any of these common worries really worth getting in a tizz over?
Every day it seems that the papers and news broadcasts are giving us yet another reason to remain firmly cocooned in our beds. But how much truth is there in all this sensationalist scaremongering? Is it just a lot of fuss over nothing? In Richard Hammond's Should I Worry About...? those are exactly the questions that are answered, as rational and irrational fears are looked at calmly and sensibly. Now that's better than breathing into a paper bag, isn't it?
The human psyche is a vast and complicated thing, so the show's choice of material is suitably vast and varied. From hospital superbugs to the great British banger, money worries to fear of flying, the programme acts much like the troubled mind of an insomniac, going through every worst case scenario in minute detail. Luckily, it does it all with the calm logic of a scientist, not to mention the comforting tones of everyone's favourite Hamster. And if ever there was a man who knows what it's like to have your worst fears realised it's Mr Hammond.
A mixture of good old fashioned facts, undercover journalism and Richard's trademark enthusiasm, Should I Worry About...? sets out to debunk myths, uncover dodgy practices that put us all in danger and dish out some very sensible advice on the way. Entertainment that helps you to get a good night's kip - we'll drink to that. As long as we stay within our recommended daily unit intake, of course.
