Speeders

Speeders

Drive at speed, repent at leisure – at least if you run into the plucky state patrol team. Speeders is roaring onto Dave – find out why you need to live in the fast lane.

The Speeders cops have a tough enough job on their hands trying to keep up with the reckless and feckless of America's roads, without having to try to keep a straight face when they hear their outlandish excuses.

Think of traffic cop shows and you'll most likely think of either rural British bobbies checking that a small family of ducks are crossing the road safely, or a humourless mulleted vigilante built like an articulated lorry coming out with all tasers blazing. That may be well and good, but it's a little po-faced, and let's face it, if we want to be depressed and frightened we can just go outside.

Speeders is a whole different kind of traffic cop show - one that realises, nay celebrates, the fact that the general public will do anything to get out of a ticket, and that truth really is funnier than fiction. And now, thanks to Dave, you can ride along with the brave boys in blue and experience the sheer joy of being told one bare-faced lie after another by people as guilty as a puppy sitting atop a pile of poo.

Speeders not only has the safety and well-being of the good citizens of the US of A at its heart, it also gives us a chance to gawp and chortle at people who are doing their best to give creationists firm proof that evolution really is a myth.

We've all been caught out doing something we shouldn't, admittedly, and we never like to cast the first stone, but if you were hanging out of a truck looking for girls would you want to be captured by a film crew? Actually, forget that, if your smoothest move involves dangling from a motor vehicle you're probably a bit of a cul de sac, genetically.

Watch people claim to "have heavy feet", to have "read speed limits backwards", attempt to flirt with the unsuspecting patrolman, and above all else dig themselves into ever deeper holes with every word that dribbles out of their mouths. You'll watch, you'll laugh, but you'll learn something too, even if it's just which excuses are non-starters. Now drive safe, people.
