World Rally
For motor sport thrills and spills you can't beat the World Rally Championship. There's mud, crashes, testing terrains and the whole thing is a petrol head's dream.
Last year's Championship was amazing, with French fancy Sebastien Loeb and flying Finn Mikki Hirvonen doing battle pretty much right up until the last race to see who took the crown (it was Loeb in the end).
After a short break, the World Rally Championship is back, exclusively on Dave, and there have been some changes. The FIA World Motor Sport Council works on a strict two-year rotation policy, so this year out go the rallies in Monte Carlo, Sweden, Mexico, Jordan, Turkey, Germany, New Zealand, France and Japan, while the likes of Norway, Cyprus, Portugal and Australia host events. For the first time there's a rally in Poland too.
The Championship kicked off with Rally Ireland (30th Jan-1st Feb), one of only two asphalt-based courses in this year's Championship (there were four asphalt courses last year). Which made it a fast, fast race. Next up was Rally Norway, (13th-15th Feb) the season's only snow rally. And we're talking proper snow. Snowy forests with snowy roads bordered by snow banks that the drivers leant against to help them squeeze round corners. Following that was the FxPro Cyprus Rally (13th-15th March), where Sebastien Loeb notched up his 50th WRC win .
The first of April's two rallies was the Vodafone Rally de Portugal (2nd-5th April), boasting a spectacular crash from Jari-Matti Latvala, followed by Rally Argentina (24th-26th April) where the large open plains, mountains and lunar-like landscapes made the rally one of the toughest and most varied on the calendar.
Just one rally in May, but it was a doozie. The Rally d'Italia Sardegna (22nd-24th May) took place on the chic Italian island where, in a dramatic u-turn, Jari-Matti Latvala stopped crashing and started winning, ending Sebastien Loeb's run of victories this year at five.
In June, the Acropolis Rally of Greece (12th-14th June) was a mix of rough, twisty mountain stages and blistering heat, followed a couple of weeks later by the spectacular gravel stages of Rally Poland (26th-28th June) where disaster struck for both Loeb and Jari-Matti Latvala.
August's rally, Neste Oil Rally Finland (31st July-2nd Aug), took place in the vibrant student town of Jyväskylä and saw a victory from Hirvonen which gave the Finn a tense three points lead over Loeb.
After a nailbiting Repco Rally Australia (4th-6th Sept) in which the leader changed five times, Sebastien Loeb's hard-fought win (his first in five rallies) was denied after his car was found not to be FIA spec, leaving Mikko Hirvonen the victor in Oz and five points clear of Loeb overall.
After the penultimate race - the Movistar RACC Rallye de España (2nd-4th Oct) - Loeb is now just a single point behind Hirvonen in the drivers’ championship, meaning we’re on for a showdown of epic proportions in forests of Wales for the final rally of the season, Wales Rally GB (23rd-25th Oct).
Read reviews of all the rallies including Rally Spain
Catch World Rally: Access All Areas every Sunday at 6pm. Each exclusive hour-long show will feature coverage of the championship, as well as highlights, previews and behind-the-scenes footage of every stage.
When is it on?
The series is currently off-air.

Your Covergae of the WRC is utter Shit, ITV lost the rights for this pile of crap, the Coverage gets worse every show, Neil Cole no disprespect to him is making it worse with his chums coming on every show i mean you should spend less time teaching Dom Jolly and that ginger kid off harry potter how to drive and focus on the racing, your coverage of Rally GB was the worst of the year, it should have been 3 highlight shows for each day but what do we get an hour of boaring bullshit. RANT OVER

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00nkt1x/2009_Wales_Rally_GB/ Take note Dave, take note. That is how you do WRC coverage, they even had a ten minute recap of the season and still probably got more coverage in than you would in two episodes! I know your hands are tied with adverts, but surely that would make you realise that time is of severe importance to get the story across! Feel free to have Neil invite some chums, I do enjoy some of those segments, just not in place of the actual rally. Gives us an hour of coverage, then give Neil an extra half hour or hour long show to show of his pla ytime!

When will Dave wake up and realise that people watch the WRC programme for exactly that reason..to watch the WRC! Not watch some clueless goons who clearly have no interest in the sport plug their latest show/film/book. I thought the producers of the show would've taken on board some of the comments and criticism they've received over the past few months, but if anything the coverage has got hell of a lot worse. I can safely say that Rally GB was the worst yet! Get rid of Neil Cole and his "celebrity" chums, bring in Mark James for the commentary and the producers from the BBC 2 Wales programme about Rally GB that was on last night...now thats how you cover the world's premier rally series properly. "WRC...exclusively on Dave"....shame, unfortunately!
-
robertD15949 | 27 Oct 09
What a load of RUBBISH your coverage of rally was!! I think you should watch BBC2 Wales programme last night and learn how to cover a rally properly! TOTAL TOSH,never been that good but you hit rock bottom this time.
-
Macd355 | 26 Oct 09
Clearly Dave doesn't listen to its fans so I shall put this in plain English for the thick idiots who seem to run this show. WE DO NOT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT DOM JOLY!!!!!! Plain and simple. Show some rallying or get to fuck. Simples
-
madpadi | 26 Oct 09
I totally agree with everyones comments What a waste of time the coverage of Raly of Britain Our home rally It should have been a showcase for the lower numbered British drivers who have scrimped and saved all year to compete in this world class event Instead we got some pretend comedian some actrs brother who didnt even want to be there and ome idiot handbrake turning where was the coverage of our own Steve Perez a fantastic supporter and sponso of rallying who was severely injured last year in an accident and made an ecellent recovery Your coverage was appalling I can only hope that you have listened to all the comments and next year show us some rallying
-
CliffD62376 | 25 Oct 09
To say I was really disappointed with the WRC coverage tonight is a massive understatement. We reach the climax of a world championship on home territory with one point separating the two main rivals for the title, and your programme places more emphasis -and gives more air time - to an ex-footballer, a comparatively unknown comic, a Harry Potter actor and a driving circus performed by a 70's autotest champion. It was a disgrace to your own profession and an insult to the WRC. Hopefully your end of term report saying 'must do better next year' will result in a proper series being presented in 2010. But somehow I doubt it.

After over 30 years being involved in rally safety and organisation, and watching many hours of rally tv footage over that period I am sorry to say that the coverage I have watched tonight was the worst I have ever watched. Where was the reports of some of the lower runners, we had footage of no more than 6 or 7 cars. The footage of the two ****s at Halfway House wasnot only a waste of time but seriously atrocious. On a rally programme I want to watch rallying not fancy parking. If you have cameras on stage lets see some of the lower runners. Not impressed at all. Disappointed rally supporter

erjones | 25 Oct 09
i agree with you all, the Dave coverage is shocking! was Hirvonen Vs Loeb this weekend but seemed the focus was on Dom Jolly! ITV did a better job when they use to have a 15min slot to show the highlights! I was there this weekend so i cant complain much but Dave needs to sort it out, lease the other WRC programs on Dave not on a sunday eve are about rallying and not celebs!
-
JamesB76654 | 25 Oct 09
It's such a relief to discover like minded Dave-viewers out there. UKTV deserve to lose the WRC next year; the coverage is awful and a waste of my Sunday evening. I don't care who the presenters / eeejits think they are, they contribute nothing to the programme and waste valuable air time with their banter. Pay attention Dave: save your pennies and don't bother flying them out next year...
-
roger_roger78 | 7 Oct 09
zilpha79 - I also watched the Eurosport show which had: extended coverage of Todt & Vatanen schmoozing for FIA presidency, shots of Contador (a cyclist) "standing at the side of the road looking like a muppet", a looong patronising feature about tarmac technique, a long interview with Dani Sordo, among other chat. There was hardly any more action in that show than on Dave! Maybe it has something to do with Rally Spain being mostly boring. Nothing really happened, and by day 2 nobody was really pushing. Which would make for a VERY dull hour of rally action.
-
zilpha79 | 6 Oct 09
roger_roger78 you must be watching something completely different!! The producer must take most of the blame for even letting this be aired. The Eurosport equivalent program is far better as it is purely coverage of the Rally. Same commentator same footage but no cut scenes of Neil standing at the side of the road like a muppet. I hope the BBC bid for it in coming years....maybe then we might get some decent coverage!
-
roger_roger78 | 6 Oct 09
I agree that the balance of rally action to chat is too chat-heavy, but you cannot be naive enough to blame the team or presenter. Neil has done a grand job for years, both on Dave & before, and is both passionate & knowledgeable about the sport. His interviews with Latvala & Raikonen this year have been some of the best I've ever seen. And the show is made by the same team that make the Eurosport shows - and who made F1 for the last 10 years - it is obviously just commissioned for & targeted at new or non rally fans, simple as that
-
drdeej | 6 Oct 09
Sorry but I couldn't help myself to have another rant. I watched Rally Catalunya on Sunday and I just got mad. Coverage of the rally (when chit chat wasn't going on) mainly consisted of the top4 drivers. We saw more of Matthew Wilson pratting around in a kart than we did actually rallying. We saw only very short clips of Ogier and Novikov (Novi crashing twice) and that was it. Oh, and a little bit of Jari-Matti at the beginning. I laughed when the credits rolled because they showed 2 secs of Henning Solberg in the titles. The chat with Rufus Hound was totally irrelevant, unneccesary and robbed us of highlights. I am getting sick of Dave patting itself on the back by promoting shows during the coverage. Dave, sort it out otherwise people like me will be boycotting your channel. I never thought I'd ever find myself saying this - which is sounding quite desperate in a way - but I want to see the bland, lifeless ISC feed instead. At least we get to see near to an hour of rallying.

Burtlad | 5 Oct 09
I like Dave, I like comedy, I like motorsport and I like the WRC, however I despise the "coverage" of the WRC given by Dave. The same applies to my family who were also trying to watch this show. This is one of the worst motorsport programmes I've ever seen, obviously produced and presented by someone with no interest in the sport whatsoever! I've just watched a bit of the coverage of the WRC Spain, and it was CRAP absolute rubbish. Presented by some bloke who knows nothing, interviewing some imbesile over breakfast I've never seen before who only passed his test 2 years ago, and claimed to "like cars." More coverage was given of this and some stupid staged go-karting dribble than footage of rally cars from either outside or inside the car. Not only does this not do the sport justice, but it also rips off the sponsors and teams participating in the championship. I compete in motorsport and have many friends who work in many different motorsports (including rallying, GT and F1) and they all feel the coverage is awful. It was that bad I've not even stopped to see who won the rally on the show, and will look on the internet instead as it will make me less angry. I hope if Dave bids on WRC again some guidelines are given on the amount of air time given to actual coverage of the WRC rather than pointless other things, otherwise rallying will lose yet more followers, sponsors and in the long run money from the UK as a direct result of sub standard television coverage. Internet comments boards by a large are full of people moaning, but please take note, these are your viewers Dave, without good viewing figures your advertisers will go elsewhere Please get your act together, I would like to follow the WRC without getting angry with my TV.
-
zilpha79 | 5 Oct 09
I've just watched WRC Spain and I am disgusted at the amount of pointless talking/cut scenes provided by Neil Cole (and a random celeb of the week). Two people sat talking over breakfast about nothing to do with rally doesn't add ANY value. DAVE please ditch Neil Cole and Celebrity friends and stick to showing WRC and related material. Including more than just the top 3 cars!! Take a look at BBC's coverage of Formula 1 and take some notes. The come back and provide us with some decent viewing. The presenter should perhaps be an x-driver or at least have some relationship to the sport. Listen to the viewers and stop being so blind!
-
Wikidancer | 4 Oct 09
Congratulations to Dave for acquiring the rights to show the WRC. Our household watches each round with great interest. Please explain why so much of the coverage is is based around a so-called celebrity proclaiming they know nothing about the sport!!! We think this waste of time should given over to more stage coverage or a full in-car stage in each round. If you are going to have guest presenters on the show, at least have those with a knowledge or connection to the sport. Keep up the good coverage, but increase the standard.
-
Taff999 | 4 Oct 09
I agree totally with all comments. Daves coverage used to be about rallying now we have guests who know nothing about rallying. Stupid challenges between presenters and crews. What we want is coverage of the rally . Dave - you have the oister of coverage on the WRC - lets see you keep up standards.
-
drdeej | 30 Sep 09
I thought things would get better too. Unfortunately I have been proved wrong. Too bad S4C's covergae has disappeared this year. If this show is to survive on DAVE then they need to do the following a.) Stop patting yourselves on the back and shamelessly plugging shows on DAVE by getting people from such shows to gatecrash to coverage. b.) We don't want a guided tour of the countryside. Nor do we want a natural history program out of it. c.) Stop the chin wagging. You are robbing us of highlights. d.) The fact there are only two manufacturer teams and 3 B-teams shouldn't detract from the coverage. Show a variety of cars from manufacturers to privateers. S4C used to do it so why can't you. e.) Keep all the chat crap for Access All Areas. f.) Let's get some proper commentators in. If we wanted Paul King (no offence buddy, I love your stuff when you were part of 80's pop band King) we'd be watching the ISC feed. Get Robbie Head or Ben Edwards of somebody back in. g.) Simply put... we just want to see more cars and less people. It's the cars that make the program and not the people. We don't mind the interviews at the end of the stage but that should be it more or less. The presenter should be there to introduce the show, discuss the rally with experts much like Channel 4 and the early part of ITV's coverage did and basically keep it all rally. I hope something changes for 2010 if it's still on DAVE then.

Agree with views about coverage from rally Australia,it was terrible.who cares about the trees in the forest, just want to watch rally action. Eurosport coverage 100 times better than this.come on Dave more rally action please..
-
Jamie1968 | 7 Sep 09
Rally Australia coverage was even more shambolic than the previous rounds of the WRC. Its not rocket science - WE JUST WANT TO SEE THE CARS!!!!! what other sport would have its coverage spoiled by showing 2 blokes walking into a forrest - and unfortunately they found their way out!
-
pjamesc | 7 Sep 09
Wow DaveTv I was so looking forward to Rally Australia. A 1 hour show of everything but the rally. You only screened several 10 seconds clips of about 6 cars. Total live action was about 2 mins max. I guess you cant afford the camera coverage needed to show anymore. Very dissapointed from what is one of my favourite channels on tv... Not even 1 out of 10 for effort.....sorry
-
rodrick | 3 Aug 09
We have all said it over and over again, more rallying and NO so called celebs, Dave obviously dont read these remarks. My solution was to buy a new recorder with freeview, fast forward the rubbish, only problem is the coverage only lasts twenty odd minutes
-
reefgirl | 3 Aug 09
What was the point of Will Smith and what was the point of a 'celeb' (and I use the term losely) who's terrified of fast cars, in Finland of all places. Couldn't you have found a celeb that was truly a rally fan, or even a car fan for the Finland trip
-
Jamie1968 | 3 Aug 09
Rally Finland coverage was great but does anyone have the faintest idea why Will Smith (Neil cole described him as a comedian but i didnt see any evidence of that) was on the program? Why does DAVE have to involve the crap celebs and they really are scraping the barrel with the majority of them???
-
noname2851 | 18 Jul 09
Really love to watch WRC but as everyone else has said: LEAVE OUT THE POINTLESS CELEBS AND LETS SEE MORE RALLYING! Also, why do you keep showing 'what's coming up in the next part' and then we see footage of a leader crashing!! Would you show football highlights and say that one team scores 3 in the second half? No you wouldn't! STOP doing this, you are reducing the programme to a farce.
-

ME AND MY BOYFRIEND LOVE WATCHING ACCESS ALL AREAS ON A SUNDAY :) WE WENT TO SEE WALES WRC LAST YEAR AND IT WAS FANTACTIC, WE ALSO SEEN NEILL :)
-
TurboRay | 1 Jul 09
Neil Cole, or Dave as we call him, has a passion for the job and is a fantastic presenter! As for the celeb guests, it would be better if they could get someone who knows a little bit about Ralling or motorsport in general! Keep up the good work , I never miss WRC on Dave!
-
PaulM4520 | 30 Jun 09
I agree as well that the talks to celebs are not needed and too long. More rally coverage is better. I think the show should be 1 and a 1/2 hrs long ( 1/2 hr for each day of the rally ). Think Neil Cole is a good presenter though and has the enthusiasm for the sport - nice to see rather than 'just' a presenter who has no real interest in the sport. Cant bear it if I miss one of the shows, as its not quite the same watching videos on the internet rather than on a big screen.
-
dabazza20 | 30 Jun 09
I thought the coverage is good but go back to how it was shown on bbc on some weekends they used to do the whole weekend and have a 30 min show for each days stages, PLEASE PLEASE ALSO ADD MORE IN-CAR FOOTAGE AND ALSO LIVE STAGES ESPECIALLY AT WALES !!
-
Jamie1968 | 29 Jun 09
I actually feel sorry for DAVE channel. They must have entered into a contract with the production company that produces the WRC coverage in good faith only to be let down by the shambolic programs that have resulted. Will this production company explain what 2 bearded blokes walking around a polish supermarket have to do with rallying???? I turned the coverage off at this point - the BBC ceefax page has more enetrtainment value than this!! its an absolute shambles.
-
orville62 | 28 Jun 09
Yet again the programme is ruined with 'celeb' guests. When will the people at Dave listen to what the fans want and stop giving 'celebs' a jolly.
-
bobbywhatever | 26 Jun 09
needs more of a focus on the cars and driving the celbs would be ok if they where into cars maybe you should invite stig blonqust or jay k god even that ginger guy on radio 2 would be better
-
Baz1374 | 24 Jun 09
Watched rally of greece, totally peed off with it!! An hour program, 20 to 25 mins of rally action, why bother? Good job got sky plus to fast forward all the boring bits. Please, please, please can we have a program that is called wrc that is about wrc and not so called celebs talking rubbish and what is it with the what coming next bit, talk about spoiling the rest of the action. MORE RALLY ACTION PLEASE!!!
-
orville62 | 21 Jun 09
Presenter is poor enough but the 'celeb guests' are a complete waste of time and its just a free trip for them. Have a competition for real rally fans to go to the rallies. The giveaway 'whats coming up' ruin it.
-
AlanaR64450 | 20 Jun 09
Have to agree with everyone here, please leave out the celebrity chit chat. The show is only an hour long; please show as much of the drving as possible.
-
Jamie1968 | 16 Jun 09
WRC coverage with that Ben Sheperd (think thats his name) was embarrasing to watch. PLease stop NOW!!!!!!
-
Ripped007 | 15 Jun 09
Just watched the Rally of Greece on Dave. Great coverage but completely spoiled within the first 2 minutes by them showing a clip of "the worlds best getting it wrong" not too much of a mystery from the in-car shot with the Citroen badge on the dash. Nothing like a plot spoiler......
-
mr wrc | 14 Jun 09
love the wrc coverage when its on,hate the cheesy celebs please ditch the celebs and concentrate on the wrc thanks.
-
PaddyDaly001 | 13 Jun 09
Please listen to the fans opinion Dave. We don't want pseudo celebs showing just how little they know about WRC. We want cars, driven to the limits by some of the best drivers in motorsport, for a full hour!
-
Jamie1968 | 27 Apr 09
No rubbish celebs in Argentina!! DAVE does listen - coverage was great (first half hour anyway - wasnt awake for second half)!
-
coach carter | 26 Apr 09
Whats going on with this half hour job? Means the missis can watch her rubbish now, loeb stalled twice but he's the man and he'll show another fantastic win. just means ive got to stay up till 11-40 tonight to catch the rest! Never mind its only work in the morning nothing important!!!!!
-
Jamie1968 | 22 Apr 09
I'm not sure if i should be looking forward to this weekends WRC coverage or not. I'm sure DAVE will do everything it can to make it as bad as the first 3 rounds. Or will they have listened to all these comments and changed the way they do things . . .
-
DTSShiny | 14 Apr 09
Come on Dave, try it out - for the next rally, why not leave all the guests and distractions in your Access All Areas show between the rallies. Let's see a proper hour of rallying and then review the comments your audience post. On-event interviews are great, but leave the off-event interviews and features out, so we can enjoy the action.
-
JaneWrx | 13 Apr 09
I have just arrived from Oz and I am HORRIFIED at the WRC coverage here. I am used to a full hour of rally action, not the diluted waffle I saw last Sunday. Dave listen to your viewers, we want to watch cars going very fast, if we want inane chat shows we can tune in to something else!
-
Ianto222 | 7 Apr 09
I think the WRC coverage on Dave is great. How about getting some IRC coverage on there as well !!! Wich is just as good, if not more exciting now !!! with only Ford & Citiroen in WRC. Many more manufactures & new events in IRC. Bring it on ..
-
PeterG48673 | 7 Apr 09
While flicking from channel to channel last Sunday I came across a wonderful chat-show with my favourite Jo Coulfield. I wondered "why interview her in a car?" and "what's with all that dust and noise?". I'd been watching a good 10 minutes before I realised I was watching a programme about the WRC! Any chance you could make a programme about rallying? Possibly a bit of coverage of the WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP?!!!!!
-
Baz1374 | 6 Apr 09
I agree with the rest, why have so-called celebrities on the show, and why is it an hour programme, with only about 20 to 25 minutes of rally action? Come on DAVE, if we want to watch a chat show, we would, all we want is some proper rally action, please?
-
Jamie1968 | 6 Apr 09
Which barrell bottom did DAVE have to scrape to find Jo Coulfield?? She's only on Mock The Week as a token female - it cant possibly be due to her sense of humour or did she cut Neil Coles hair? Come on DAVE we dont want these so called celeb guests. The WRC coverage is great please dont spoil it any more.
-
argh | 29 Mar 09
Why do we have to see celebrities(so called)on the show, all we want to see is the rally action. Its bad enough having to look at the commentator when we could be looking at the cars. Also why do we have to have music in the back ground, would it, as an experiment be possible to do a couple of shows without and ask for viewers preferences.
-
AnthonyP67850 | 21 Mar 09
You say that World Rally is on every Sunday at 6.00pm but, having set my recorder when I am away, I find that some weeks the programme is on at 4.00pm and on other occassions it is only for half an hour. Is there going to be a regular time that future programmes are transmitted? if not, you need to change your publicity.
-
Jamie1968 | 19 Mar 09
Why is DAVE removing some of the blogs from people complaining about the special guests on the WRC coverage? Please take notice of what we are saying - we like the rally coverage but dont want the other stuff. Give Neil Cole and his guests a separate program but please dont mix the two.
-
DTSShiny | 19 Mar 09
How about a 30 minute WRC show with all the Neil Cole advertising and guests taken out so it's a proper rally show? Even better would be a 60 minute show with a proper amount of coverage of the rally with all the fluff taken out. It'd also be nice to see a presenter with some credibility, someone who's been there and done it, has the respect of the drivers he's interviewing and can present some qualified comments...
-
Graham521 | 16 Mar 09
I also am an avid fan of WRC and watch it for the rallying, not to see an also ran irish comedian being childish!!
-
Nick3005 | 15 Mar 09
Ok. So I really like rallying, and I like what Dave does on tv. But tonight's WRC coverage was a joke. Why do we have to watch some hairy fat minor celebrity ex-comic talking about his latest bit part in an ITV soap? And why did we have to watch a hairy fat bloke from a long-forgotten comedy show in Norway. And a slightly less hairy, but no less unforgetable singer getting lost around Ireland. Come on Dave. Cut out this irrelevant stuff and stick to the rallying. That's what you're good at and that's what we tune in to see.
-
HH7 | 15 Mar 09
I would like to well done to Petter Solberg on his 3th place on the last day of the rally. I beleve petter could have been 2nd or maybe could have won it if it was just gravel dont forget he won it in 2003 in the subaru. Petter did not had a geart start losing time on the tarmac of day 1 but on the gravel when he was on the pace he was fast winning 2 stages and showing he is still the best in this sport. Petter is the 2003 champion betting Loeb dont you forget about it. when he is in a good car like a three year old Citroen Xsara.
-
Fiona9460 | 15 Mar 09
We have been fans of world rally for many years, why do we have to waste coverage with stand up comics, cant you show more drivers instead that is what rallying is about
-
webby999 | 3 Mar 09
I have been watching Dave since the channel began! One program I never miss is WRC I have it on (record the series) so I never miss a thing, my only complaint is that you never show split screen or even better! show the (in car drivers view camera) for more than a few seconds, I use to watch F1 on foreign satellite channels instead of terrestrial TV why? They showed one channel the drivers eye view the whole race and the other channel, as you show on Dave a mixture of camera shots. The sense of being sat with the driver was amazing. Once the race had finished I got out my Playstation to a drivers eye view, to try and beat Barachello, I hope you will consider trying this to hear the response of the loyal WRC fans

I'm back but only as a mate told me the coverage on Sunday was going to be an hour of rallying which is what we got. Half an hour of the JWRC and half an hour of the PWRC. Now that was more like it. Action and or two interviews.. spot on! More of that please and I'll be a happy bunny. Why not give Neil his own show as he is a professional comedian based around rallying if necessary and then have an hour programme of each WRC round without these "entertainment" bits and Murdoch wont be getting my money! For all of those having a go back at me it's only because I'm an enthusiast that wants to see rallying on tv that I'm making my points. Dave has plenty of other good entertainment progs and couldnt see why the WRC needed to go down this route. Also having followed the sport for years I dont really need constant info on what cutting a corner means or how a shock absorber works so guess I'm the wrong demographic. Any way for those of you looking forward to Cyprus I hear the Chuckle Brothers are going to be in Pathos the same week so remember where you read it first...
-
PaulM4520 | 23 Feb 09
I think WRC on Dave is great. Sure the red dwarf advertising was abit annoying, but neil makes the program more interesting by talking about things like why drivers cut corners and sweeping etc. I have to watch the repeats of the rallies on mondays at 7pm as im at my dads at the weekend and cant get Dave. aghh. Please go back to repeating access all areas and the other wrc programs on monday nights again. Im grateful the actual rallies are still repeated then though.i Id go mad if I missed one!
-

Chris aka sal - could feel your hernia forming while you were writing that. At least you can relax now watching Eurosport with all the great coverage of...oh carpet bowls and the Lithuanian left handed sailing championships (sound investment that!). WRC is the only good thing on that channel. I give you a week before you're flicking back to the highlights on Dave.
-
roger_roger78 | 19 Feb 09
There was more than 35 minutes of rally footage in the Norway show. We can follow the event online & on Eurosport, Dave is giving the sport its most prominent scheduling for years, and a bit of personality... so stop moaning about it. My wife will happily watch the show with me, but would never normally watch rally footage. I think of it like rallying's version of Match Of The Day only much better. Some chat, some highlights, job done.

Like i said b4 stop wingeing or they`ll chop it and you`ll never see much wrc again.Ive been following the wrc for 20+years and this is some of the best coverage since steve rider showed 15-20mins on grandstand(or similar). The fact that Neil cole is actually into it,enthusiastic, and stands by the track makes it a hundred times more watchable than the voiced over eurosport coverage, yeah the red dwarf plugging was a bit blatant but they`ve gotta get the viewers somehow cos they aint watching wrc unfortunately. (old cliche warning), You never know what you had til its gone!

chris aka sal. spot on mate, i thought i was the only one who tuned in to watch the rally and ended up seeing a few minutes during the red dwarf trailer. come on dave take notice- rally fans want to see rally cars not some so called celeb oohing and aaring. get back to the rally or cut out the rubbish and give us the twenty mins of action(the reason we are watching) in one lump
-
Chris aka sal | 15 Feb 09
Sorry but 20 minutes of actual footage and the rest a plug for Red Dwarf is beyond a joke. I''m off to buy Sky so I can watch some rallying on Eurosport and not just Neil C on a jolly. Call me old fashioned but I'm longing for the days of Jeremy Hart and Jon Desborough on C4 and that was bad enough.. Bye Dave it was nice whilst it lasted

Hehe. Splitting my sides at the blog/preview for Rally Norway (lolling or whatever you kids call it these days). The show is going to be awesome with a capital AWE. Have seen some of the action on Eurosport and it's amazing to see the speed these guys fly through the snow. Keep up the good work!!!!!!

You can keep your boring repedative F1, give me the exciting world of WRC anyday where it's man and machine against the unknown road conditions as shown by the rally of Ireland. Now for the rally of Norway, where else can you see cars travelling at 100 mph + on snow and ice. I would like to see F1 drivers try that.

Hi just to say DAVE ' S coverage of the WRC is great I am registered with MSA and FIA and have been marshalling wales rally gb for the last 10 years . Hope you keep the good work up Neil and the crew. See you all in wales again in oct alex

I do like it that Dave covers the rally. But please can we have more of the rally on the show. The rally Ireland had more of Irish personalites than it did of the action. Please please please put more action into the show.

wd shd try get the rally to come to scotland!!!

trevo_6 | 4 Feb 09
iv met chris atkinson and he is one of my favourite drivers and i agree there wasnt much on him. I just watched the eurosport versions from net and it was great! it still had some bits that dave showed but didnt focus on it for long and focused on what they should be more. As a massive wrc fan im glad dave has still got the wrc and showing it and as a fan i like to have both coverage but i do like acess all areas as they do show what eurosport viewers cant see so its exclusive to us, they should do what eurosport does more tho

Let me be the first to say. WHAT A LOAD OF SHIIT!
-
Carlina | 3 Feb 09
Just watched Irish rally on Eurosport, far superior. More rallying, greater details; better interviews; no stupidity; no has been pop stars. Forget the Neil Cole and "Friends" show.

It's great that Dave continues to show the WRC when there was talk of them dropping it before this year started. However please can someone make thier mind up if this is an entertainment show or a genuine attempt to broadcast footage of the rallies? Most people know the footage is provided by/bought in from ISC however Eurosport manage an hour long programme with it with little in the way of "personality" pieces. Contrast this with the Dave Ireland programme which had very little in the way of rallying and lots of coverage of boy band members being driven around by Mr Cole. The Access all areas programme already seems to consist mainly of mechanics playing Scalextric so why not save loads of time and bother and money driving out to film the stages and instead just film each programme in a studio with special guests like members of the Sugarbabes driving a car round a track ..oh I forgot thats called Top Gear...

janeyvet | 2 Feb 09
i love wrc and its great on dave but i do think they should focus on other drivers as well as the top few i am huge fan of chris atkinson and there is never much on him and how is rally is going
-
trevo_6 | 2 Feb 09
was a good programme but it always seems to drift away from what the programme is about. i got into wrc mostly by wtahced channel 4s coverage, eurosport is better for coverage, i do like access all areas tho coz its exclusive to us and no1 els gets the content but it sumtimes spends to much time on non rally stuff and that annoys me. but i am happy with it and glad we have the coverage rather than non at all coz if we had non at all id b devastaded
-
martymcfly09 | 2 Feb 09
I should stop wingeing if i was you guys cos its better than the alternative which is NOTHING!, unfortunately wrc fans like you and i are in the minority when it comes to watching mundane F1 cars go round and round in circles,so give some positives its better than that CH4 crap attempt.

Get real you lot! No TV channel record any of the action, it's all prepared, edited and supplied by the WRC organisers for the mass market tv. Each channel in turn send crews to cover the fill in and commentary. I reckon this coverage was far better than the drivel that ITV came up with in previous years, at least this presenter and producer had a sense of humour, even ITV's F1 coverage lacked this... Hence they lost it! Bravo Dave! Humour and the WRC works for me, keep the eejit in front of the camera until Dorna give us better live coverage. That's if there still is a WRC next year!

I agree with all the people who want more rally action and less chit chat. Is Neil Cole Martin Brundle's son?? I don't remember seeing any sensible action tonight although Chris Atkinsons crash was shown several times. It was a bit like one of those Christmas rally thrills and spills DVDs. I do remember Neil Cole dancing in the woods and Sebastian Loeb not having a clue what Neil was talking about......

jpmunter | 1 Feb 09
Rubbish. Utter, utter, rubbish. I switched off when they introduced the second ex-boyband member 40 minutes through the broadcast. By that point we had seen approximately 5 minutes of actual rally coverage, and that was spread so thinly amongst the rest of the drivel that I honestly had no idea what was actually going on IN THE RALLY. If this is the best that you can do then please give the coverage to someone that actually has a clue about rallying, and stick to the endless repeats of old BBC quiz shows, which are actually quite entertaining. I'm off to find some rallying clips on youtube now; I bet there's more footage of Rally Ireland 2009 on there than was shown on Dave this evening.

Here's a simple suggestion. How about showing some Rallying on your Rallying coverage. This is utterly pitiful. I have no interest in seeing 2 chimps stood at the side of the road talking drivel and all the other crap. 45mins coverage for a 3 day event is laughable anyway, but to use more than half of that with rubbish rather than rallying is a frankly unforgivable way to treat rallying fans.
-
madpadi | 1 Feb 09
I agree with everyone else We wanna see more rallying and also some more drivers apart from the top 3 drivers After all its the privateer that keeps rallying goin
-
Cheekyems | 1 Feb 09
Dave clearly dosent read these comments. Shane and some guy from westlife?? Eddie Jordan playing drums? Neil Cole doing an Irish jig??? And when it finaly gets round to the less than 5 minutes of coverage per day its a shot of someone cleaning the screen with a rag on a stick???? DAVE explain to devoted WRC fans where the WRC has gone! Give it back to ITV!
-
Capps595 | 1 Feb 09
Neil Cole dose my head in. More cars less rubbish talk. And get hair cut please!!!
-
Carlina | 1 Feb 09
WRC back to ITV where it belongs. There is too much talking; who cares about Shane Lynch. There are 6 of us watching this and we are all moaning there should be more rally coverage less of the talk. If you can't do the job properly give it up to someone who can!!!
-
rodrick | 26 Jan 09
coverage needs to be rally cars NOT computer graphics, and if i want awful music (or any at all) then i will watch it with my radio on. agree with others too much non action content

Neil Cole - I must admit you really got on my wick at times at first - but I've come to appreciate just how clever your presentation style is. Your delivery to camera finish just as a car passes / starts / jumps etc is amazing. I thought the trick you pulled in Portugal, nipping behind the camera as the cameraman panned around with the jumping car to pick you up again as it disappeared was brilliant! Keep it going!!

Dave is a great channel - don't really need any others but WRC is the icing on the cake. And how about some of the bike racing to go with it eh? I have campaigned hard at my gym to get them to change the TV screen showing crappy TMF over to Dave for the Rally coverage. There's nothing more fun than falling off the treadmill because you're trying to corner as fast as Hirvonen :-) Last week the TV got left on Dave for a day or two afterwards - and guess what lots of other gym members are enjoying watching it too!
-
PaulM4520 | 3 Nov 08
I watch the program every week, and cant get enough of it. It NEEDS to continue next year!!!!! Would be even better if the program was made longer, (1/2 hour per day of competition maybe).

The WRC is worth staying in on a sunday sitting down in front of the telly and watch cars whip round the stages of the world
-

Please continue to provide WRC in 2009!
-
Rally Ray | 27 Oct 08
Brilliant programme, needs to be more technical, maybe visits to all the WRC manufacturers not predominantly Ford. As this is the only rally programme on the TV I suppose we must be greatfull. But it could be so much better.

View all commentsYour Covergae of the WRC is utter Shit, ITV lost the rights for this pile of crap, the Coverage gets worse every show, Neil Cole no disprespect to him is making it worse with his chums coming on every show i mean you should spend less time teaching Dom Jolly and that ginger kid off harry potter how to drive and focus on the racing, your coverage of Rally GB was the worst of the year, it should have been 3 highlight shows for each day but what do we get an hour of boaring bullshit. RANT OVER
