Alexander Armstrong's Big Ask

Alexander Armstrong's Big Ask

King of the TV quiz show, Alexander Armstrong is coming back on Dave for the second series of the all-star panel-show-with-a-difference.

Every week sees Alexander (The Armstrong & Miller Show, Pointless, Hunderby) welcome top names from the world of comedy into his lair. He challenges each comic with subjects as varied as Shakespeare, magic and the Bible - all they have to do is come up with a fiendish question for the other guests to answer.

The show is packed with comedy banter and the guests are never short of some extra trivia to throw around, prompted by Alexander's nifty laptop search engine. Alexander is a mere Sherpa guiding the viewer through the treacherous mountain paths of trivia.

It's a test of comedians' trivia recall, as well as their improvisational skills, and each episode they are offered an extraordinarily random prop to discuss, from a highly technical snuff machine to a stuffed bird on a cricket ball!

When is it on?

The series is currently off-air.

Loved this series. I think that the table looks like it could be opened, and maybe it'd be a good idea if in each episode something different was put in there?

Anyone know how if there are more recordings for Big Ask coming up or how you get tickets?

Alexander Armstrong is certainly doing well, both of his current shows must be amongst the best entertainment viewing for a long while, they are a must for me. I have a question which he could perhaps use on one of his shows, unless it is already widely known: What TWO things do Alexander Armstrong, Richard Nixon, Robert Maxwell and Bob Hope have in common? The answers can be found in George MacDonald Fraser's historical book "The Steel Bonnets" and a lot more interesting than me giving them you. George

This is a brilliant show! Feels like it has been running for years - in a good way. It has the sharp comedy of HIGNFY and the funny interaction between guests of QI. More original than Would I Lie To You. All in all great - really really funny.

The first 3 episodes of the Big Ask that I have watched have all been the same. Will episode 4 be the same?

I was lucky enough to go to the recording of one of the shows - and it was just as funny viewing it second time around. Quirky, hilarious, informative - and it's great to see the comics in a more relaxed setting than usual, too. I've Sky+ed the whole series. I hope there'll be lots more to come - let's see more of Dave Lamb in the 'fact bunker' next time!

Love the show. I have been waiting for a good substitute for Would I Lie to You for a while now. This seems to be a good candidate. With time it will get there I'm sure.

this is a great idea . tends towards being only as funny as the guests. dave behind the scenes needs to have more input

Really nice informal set-up and very funny. It's smarter, and so much less pompous than QI. More questions and interesting facts please and much more Dave Lamb!!!

Really enjoyed Big Ask. I twas a great first show, Sandi Toksvig is comic genius, Graham and Marcus were very good too. Thought there could have been more of Dave behind the scenes. But top first show - like QI but better. Hit!

The Big Ask: loved it! Laughed a lot with a glimpse of the celebrities "real" selves. Charmingly disrespectful, not smutty: great! And Dave behind the computer will be a hit (who needs George Dawes?). New format gives plenty of opportunities to be creative. We want more of it!

The best bit of the show was the Quick fire round at the end!!! The waiting for the ‘clebestants’ to “e-write” their answers, in the 1st half, having seen their reactions to the question, was turgid… Sorry, I can’t think why they couldn't just answer. Surely not for Mr Armstrong fill-ins which (especially given the 3 topics set) were lack-lustre. Sorry, just my personal reaction. The quick-fire round was brilliant!!!! A large variety of topics, & 1st to ask a question on that topic! It was exciting, who will think of a question... are they desperate enough to ask an easy question... Really good format! Scoring needs to be looked at, 4 propose an unanswered or incorrectly answered question, 0 propose an correctly answered question, 2 answer question correctly 0 wrong answer (ie no penalty for humorous answer) The man (Dave?) in the cellar, either adds something factual or humorous, - or is ignored – ie do we need to see him say ‘yes, he’s got it “basically” right’ But almost loved it. Cheers

There is only one reference to s the book of Leviticus And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD. Le 27:30 I think Katy Brand was referring to Jer. 10
