The Gadget Show
Don't let your wallet suffer for your ignorance. Watch The Gadget Show for reviews of all the latest gizmos – and get maximum technical gratification with minimum cash wastage.
Providing handy previews and expert advice, The Gadget Show's presenters Suzi Perry, Jason Bradbury, Jon Bentley, Pollyanna Woodward and Ortis Deley sort through the latest releases for your viewing pleasure, providing guaranteed entertainment for both geeks and technophobes. Top Gear meets Tomorrow's World in a heady combination of cutting-edge wisdom and witty banter.
So if you love bright, shiny new things, this cult show separates the must-have devices from the duds, so you can remain smug in the knowledge that you're ahead of the gadget game. But don't worry if you are not up on the latest techie terms – you don't have to be able to tell your iClouds from your Androids to get by with this show (which is just as well, seeing as most right-thinking people think of clouds as stuff with rain in them). They cut through the jargon to make sure that you sound like an expert the next time you turn up at your local gadget shop.
It's a thoroughly jam packed show with the presenters out and about trying out new technology as well as putting a fair few gizmos through their paces. If you've ever wondered whether your mini hoover could clean up and entire freight lorry, or which RC helicopter moves the quickest – this is the place to find out. The show has proved so popular that episodes keep on getting extended, and we reckon that if technology keeps progressing at the rate its going, these shows will have to be on twenty four hours a day. Hmm, perhaps a Gadget Show channel?
Top Gear fans are sure to spot the similarities in the Wall of Fame, where those gadgets that have, or will, drastically change our lives (or, more likely, allow us to do something else at the touch of a button) are honoured. Die hard fans of the show can even get an extra fix from The Gadget Show magazine – which those techy folk at The Gadget Show HQ would probably be much happier about if it was shrunk to the size of a pin head and put inside specially modified Ray-Bans to allow you to view it on the move, but anyway, it's there for those who just can't get enough. It also wouldn't be much a techie show without some kind of online presence. Lots of footage can be found on YouTube (for those keen to see things whirr, bleep and blow up on repeat) and the website itself offers extra web episodes that show a whole heap of sciencey, and technological stuff to keep even the super obsessed fans happy.
This is a show with some serious street cred – with several Guinness World Records under its belt. They have set the record for the fastest speed reached in a water jet-powered car, the longest ramp jump in a remote controlled model car and, coolest of all, they've completed the largest game of Tetris ever. The show even hold sthe record for the heaviest machine ever moved (it was a car). These guys aren't mucking about., that's for sure.
They're also out and about every year at The Gadget Show Live, promoting their finds throughout the series and enabling fans to get up close and personal with the latest gadgets. Or, probably more realistically, to help kids write next year's Christmas list. In fact, you might be wise to at some point turn off and go to work – this could get expensive!
