Ray Mears' World of Survival

Ray Mears' World of Survival

Ray Mears makes himself at home in places so wild and remote that most westerners would die within days. Just because he can.

He discovers how the indigenous people have survived using traditional skills perfected through generations over thousands of years. He learns about their local customs and beliefs, gets hands-on experience and gives valuable advice on such necessities as how to build a shelter, light a fire, find water, catch food, prepare plants, repel insects and generally stay alive and well in hostile environments.

In Series One, his travels take him to the Arctic, the Australian Outback, Siberia, Polynesia, the Namibian Bush and Indonesia From a dangerous minus 40°C to an exhausting 40°C, from steamy jungle to desert island, and from endless forest to baking bush, Ray discovers there are many things that unite people in the way that they have harnessed the resources at their disposal in order to survive, no matter how difficult the circumstances.

In Series 2, he packs his rucksack for adventures with a tribe of hunter/gatherers in Tanzania, the nomads of western Mongolia, an Amazonian tribe in the rainforest of Venezuela, a caste of fisherfolk on the Coromandel Coast of India, the Innu of freezing barren Labrador, and the Aborigines of the Central Australian Desert.
