There is much demand and clearly the actors would like to keep the work coming so why not more series. I commend the Red Dwarf crew and Dave for taking the first step in making tv good again, before digital only bbc Itv Channel4 and 5 produced much decent work in the digital age not much has changed but maybe if Red Dwarf can run on Dave then there is hope, another idea is a range of books written by the fans who have been briefed by Doug (as how the various writers for doctor who manage to keep the story arch flowing through their very different works) These books could tell us what happened during the fabled series 9. (hey who said a canonical series had to be on tv) This way we could have the blockbuster movie story lines without need of a blockbuster budget (or any budget if the writers are big enough fans) I myself am writing a script which will feature the legendary dwarfers. (just for fun mind)
Perhaps it could be a concurrent thing. series 9-books, series 10/back to earth special-tv, series 11-books, series 12/cristmas and seasonal specials- tv
Back to earth did ask more questions than it answered but it's dwarf and it offers hope for tv and fans and it reintroduced the gang. Lets get Red Dwarf back on a regular showing, more poly morphs, scutters and hilarious monsters.
Just more red dwarf please.
I am a dwarfer, have been almost all my life (partly because I'm a pacifistic slob like lister) I knew the lyrics to red dwarf before I'd even heard of a certain time traveller. I am now however a whovian aswell as a dwarfer for one reason alone, replicate able yet still impressive monsters (daleks and cybermen) Red Dwarf can never hope to topple the time lord franchise but maybe it doesn't need to, Red Dwarf fills the space of Sci Fi comedy, the docs good but I don't remember howling with laughter when the crew are put in mortal jeopardy like I do with the dwarf, also Red Dwarf may very well be marked in history by being one of the first well established shows that makes a jump to a freeview digital channel. Hopefully Red Dwarf will run and run (maybe even having a crossover with a certain referenced show so that the characters can regenerate when the actors leave) and show other channels the way. The talent is there, the channels are there and thanks to cg a couple of geeks can knock up a half decent cg sequence for not much money, so please dave see if you can strike a deal with the beeb to make series from the pilots on bbc 3.
