Chris Rock is one of the world’s most popular comedians. A fantastic orator and actor, he’ll have you rolling on the floor laughing with his stern, honest and often brutal observations.

Chris Grew up in Brookyln, his mother was a social worker and teacher whilst his father was a truck driver and newspaper delivery man.

Chris’s comedy career began in the New York City, where he frequented ‘Catch a Rising Star’ comedy clubs. He rose up the ranks quickly and even caught the eye of Eddie Murphy, he mentored him.

Rock found nationwide exposure after appearing on Saturday Night Live. Rock received critical acclaim for his performance in New Jack City as a crack addict.

Rock’s first HBO Comedy Special was called ‘Big Ass Jokes’ and released in 1994. However, it was 1996’s ‘Bring the Pain’ which made Chris Rock into a superstar. This routine featured grittier material including commentaries on race. It earned him two Emmy awards.

Since them, Chris has done 2 more HBO specials, received roles in Dogma, Beverly Hills Ninja, Lethal Weapon 4, Nurse Betty, The Longest Yard, Bad Company and Down to Earth.

Chris Rock is famous for his almost preacher like style. This is from the influence of his grandfather and watching orators such as Martin Luther King. He covers topics such as race, politics, sexuality, marriage and African-American culture.

Comedy Central recently voted Chris Rock number 5 in their top comedians of all time. Chris Rock’s position in comedy history is surely definite.
