Airport
A fly-on-the-wall view of the everyday lives of London's Heathrow staff. Share in the airline ground staff's struggle to close check-in on time, find out how airport police deal with the proverbial unattended bags or follow the airport's journalists in their quest for the ultimate celebrity shot. Airport brings a touchingly human element to the gigantic and confusing maze that is Heathrow, the world's busiest airport.
It's a point-of-view thing
Follow the daily adventures of people that you only usually see from the other side of the check in desk. The main stars are ground staff, animal transit officers, a couple of HM Custom and Excise guys and the airport's resident journalists and photographers. Jeremy Spake, Aeroflot ground staff and a genuinely funny man, provides a good share of the entertainment. He was such a favourite early in the series that he's moved on to host his own show.
These people you love to hate
Believe it or not, you will actually feel sympathy for airline staff having to deal with angry passengers, whose flights have been overbooked. Remember when it happened to you? Amazing how when you're comfy at home and don't have a flight to catch, your sympathy goes to the guy who'd normally be on the dangerous end of your temper.
Flying with beasts
More than just human beings and luggage pass through Heathrow every day. Thousands of animals, from racehorses to fluffy puppies and creepy hairy Tarantulas, travel the world, too. All creatures great and small, sticky and fuzzy, wet and slippery that transit via Heathrow have to be checked by the local staff. Sometimes, due to bad travelling conditions, these unusual guests need some serious TLC and emergency care from the heroes of the animal centre. It's a case of international pet rescue.
Celebrities uncovered
Heathrow is also the point of entry for the vast majority of celebrities that visit Britain. The resident journalist and photographer, a classic comedy double act, get first-hand access to some serious VIPs. Forever sprinting between terminals, the duo track down the stars and ask famous footballers and sexy singers alike sharp and prying questions such as "What will you be doing in England, love?"
Heathrow facts
90 airlines, 64 million people travelling to more than 170 destinations around the world every year - that makes London Heathrow the world's busiest international airport. Something to be proud of? Well, it's always nice to be able to tell our American friends that we have something bigger than them, even if it is just an airport.

The BBC stopped making Aiport in 2005. There has been 10 series of the show but I'm not sure how many of this series UKTV People show. There are 6 episodes in each series.
In case no one has noticed, they also broadcast the programme on Dave. - Something to say? Add a comment...
