Apparently we know more about space than we do about the sea and going by our sea based facts that may not surprise you. But here are some wondrous ocean facts that will leave you wanting more… maybe.

  • Fact

    One of the enduring mysteries about the much-loved dolphin is the way they sleep. Apparently the creature divides its nap into two halves, resting each side of the brain. They close one eye for several hours, and then the other for a few hours, continuing to function but simply swimming in circles.

  • Fact

    It is the male seahorse, rather than the female, who incubates the babies. They emerge fully formed from his pouch in just two weeks. The male leafy sea dragon, which resembles floating seaweed, also looks after the young.
