Morning glory: Top breakfast tips

Morning glory: Top breakfast tips During the week it's ok to stuff a croissant in your face as you're running to catch the train. But, at weekends, you should take time over the morning meal. Because you're worth it.

Breakfast - the meal that rather arrogantly calls itself 'the most important meal of the day'. Well personally, during the week, I like to shun breakfast and hold out for lunch. Controversial I know, but I enjoy that feeling of lightness in the morning, and I believe humans have it in them to go out and forage and hunt before feeding. (You may want to replace 'forage and hunt' with 'operate a computer'.)

The weekends are different though. Breakfast is taken a little later, so there's more time to prepare something special. I like to stroll down to the shops wearing as little as the law will allow, and return to the cave with fresh milk, butter, artisan breads and fruit to pick on whilst preparing a feast which will set me up until at least three in the afternoon.

So this weekend do justice to 'the most important meal of the day' and try cooking one of these top breakfast recipes, from our sister site, Good Food.

Bill Granger deserves serious props for putting egg and bacon together in a tart, whilst home-baked muesli ticks the healthy option.
