Posted by Dave Cooper on 8 Jan 09 in Music
We've scoured the land to find three bands we think you should get to know because 2009 could very well be their year.
We love music here at Dave. It's good to listen to isn't it? We also like discovering new artists before everyone else does because it makes us feel special and very much down with the kids. But we're not selfish which is why we've put together our expert picks of who we think you should check out this year. You can watch exclusive interviews with all the artists in our Dave's Bands to Watch 2009 video.
Read a bit about each of our picks below then make sure you check our interviews with the bands in our Vodcast which you can Download and Subscribe to from iTunes for a credit crunch defying zero pounds sterling.
Wild Beasts
Hailing from Kendal, home of mint cake, Wild Beasts got together in Leeds, home of fashionable haircuts. The music featured on the critically acclaimed debut album 'Limbo Panto' is unique to say the least. Soaring vocals combine with lyrics worthy of Wilfred Owen or Oscar Wilde producing a sound which is uniquely British and strikingly original.

Silvery
London's Silvery manage to sound like a proper London band and pull it off without ever reminding you of Chas and Dave. Instead, when you listen to Silvery's debut album you are transported back to the Victorian capital of Dickens, Jack The Ripper and Gothic asylum madness. Reminiscent of early Blur, Silvery's unique sound is due in no small part to their frantic keyboards, something which makes their debut album 'Thunderer and Excelsior' stand out from the crowd.

Revere
Eight piece outfit Revere play music which soars and builds way beyond your average three minute pop song. After a succesful 2008, which saw the band take on Glastonbury's unsigned stage and build a passionate fanbase including 6Music's Tom Robinson, Revere are finally putting the finishing touches to a debut album that will send ripples of excitement through the industry when it is finally released.
