Straight out of the gate, let me thank Dave for the opportunity to write this blog for a few weeks. Like the public don't see enough of me and Dave together as it is. I make a couple of shows a year (genuinely; we only do 11 episodes of Mock the Week) but thanks to Dave and the lucky fluke of birth that places me directly in the sightline of their demographic, every programme is lovingly broadcast up to seven times a night until the tapes themselves have worn out and all that remains is a single flickering image of me pressing a buzzer while Frankie finishes a withering joke about Kerry Katona.

You might not know this ladies and gentlemen, but I'm a big fan of the great outdoors. A camping holiday is one of the simplest and most enjoyable experiences open to us as human beings. It's cheap, it's healthy and above all, it's bloody good fun. Especially if, like me, you have staff who can cook and erect your tents for you.
