World Stinging Nettle Eating Competition

This painful competition started after an English farmer boasting about the length of his stinging nettles announced: "If anyone beats them, I'll eat them". That'll learn 'em.

Well, it hasn't really taught anyone a lesson because this bizarre 'sport' has become a popular annual event at The Bottle Inn pub. If you don't fancy chomping on stinging nettles yourself, it's worth going on just to watch in horror - you'll definitely need a couple of ales to numb the pain.
