Carisbrooke Castle Museum

The castle dates back to the 12th Century and is the site of an Anglo-Saxon fortification.

Odo was arrested in the Great Hall by his brother William the Conqueror for treason. The castle has only been successfully over run once in history.

George Carey, cousin of Queen Elizabeth I, lived at the castle whilst Governor of the Isle of Wight.

In more recent times, Princess Beatrice, Queen Victoria's daughter lived there. In 1898 she opened the museum, which today is full of fasinating articles, facts and history.
