Edinburgh

In the Dark Ages the name of Edinburgh in its early forms was Dunedin or Din Eidyn ('fort of Eidyn') named after the castle dominating the skyline.

Edinburgh has been the capital of Scotland since the 15th century and in 1995 the truly historic, architectural and cultural importance of the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh were recognised and the city was elevated to a World Heritage Site.
