Gardeners' World Specials
Gardeners' World Specials is currently off air
If you're a fan of Monty and the gang then you're in for a real treat, we're showing the Gardeners' World Specials just for you.
In the first of our Gardeners' World Specials, Joe Swift relates The History Of The Walled Garden, a tradition that stretches as far back as the ancient Persians, whose gardens were enchanted refuges from the fierce desert sun.
Via the Victorians, he moves on to the work restoring the kitchen garden at Tatton Park in Cheshire. To today's city dwellers, walls can appear problem areas, so the programme also considers how ancient skills can be used to give the humble back yard an exotic feel.
Also on the bill: Heaven Scent, in which Carol Klein talks to growers and breeders who have realised that gardeners want more than disease-free blooms. In The Vegetable Kingdom, Sarah Raven examines Britain’s weird and wonderful fruit and vegetable culture; and Britain's Gardening Heroes, in which Monty Don celebrates the most passionate botanists over the last 50 years.

Just wanted to say what a delight it has been to see the Gardeners World specials again. Any opportunity to see gardening on TV is rare and with the demise of the UKTV Gardens channel, us gardeners have been denied programmes to watch that are not the usual boring makeover shows. Hopefully you'll show more old Gardeners World programmes or Alan Titchmarsh's, The Gardening Year or How to be a Gardener, or any of the other programmes once enjoyed on UKTV Gardens.
