Published September 2009Every May Day, the Chanctonbury Ring Morris Men dance at dawn. The group is named after the ring of beech trees marking the site of an Iron Age camp on Chanctonbury Hill, Sussex. The storm of 1987 destroyed many of the trees: the replanted beeches are only now beginning to restore the ringÆs splendour. (Image ® Chanctonbury Ring Morris Men.)
