Big Grin Excellent - About time Howard's Way re-surfaced on UKTV. Can't wait to relive that 80's era where shoulder pads and fluffed up hair were 'in'.

I was just looking at ordering Series 4 when I came across this link......

also here [link]

Guess who's for sale at the moment ? The old girl Barracuda Of Tarrant herself ! This is the original wooden prototype built at the Elephant (Mermaid) Boatyard in Burlesdon. No it's not mine and I'm not spamming but I was rather hoping that perhaps we could all have a whip round ?

Just finished watching series 1 on DVD and on the commentary by Jan Harvey she said there are Howards Way tours you can go on to visit the boatyard, homes, pub etc. Is this still going on? would be fasinating to go and see the locations for a bit of nostalgia. Does anybody know more about this?? Confused

Having almost given up on seeing series' 4, 5 & 6 released on DVD I did a search on Amazon yesterday just for the fun of it, and lo and behold series 4 came up. It's being released on 11 February and you can pre-order at the current price of £22.49. Hopefully this will be followed up by series' 5 & 6 in the not too distant future. Smile

Hang fire , MrsHawkeye....Howards Way (4) is now available for pre-order through HMV and other companies. Also , I was informed by 2Entertain , the company who released the previous series 1 , 2 , 3 , that the remaining three will definitely be released in 2008. Indeed she sounded most enthusiastic!!

So that's a good bit of news to be going into Christmas with.

So you will be visiting Tarrant again.

Mad I have not managed to watch the series on UKTV but I have purchased the first 3 series on DVD. If they are not going to release the rest on DVD then I think I should be entitled to a refund.
I never saw the series first time around as I was too young, but I have become completely hook. Now having spent nearly £90 I now feel like I have been ripped off. Please someone listen, issue series 4, 5 and 6. You have taken my money, now at least give me some satisfaction!

I see the Beeb are getting rid of loads of people that we pay for to save money and will be showing a lot more repeats - perhaps one of these repeats will be Howards Way shown in it's entirety in the correct running order (please note UK TV Drama!) at a sensible time schedule on the same day each week. Where can we bombard them with requests???

I sooo agree.
Get rid of the lot
They wonder why the viewing figures go down - they play around with all the dramas - viewers have no chance on continuity.
They are so overpaid.
Freeview is a good idea as we are paying for Sky - for what we ask!!

Howards Way was one of the very best drama series made - they couldnt even keep that going until the very end. Chop out episodes and then say it was because of low viewing. Absolute garbage.

Chajun, I'm with you all the way but would go much further. I would actually sack all the program managers at UKTV and replace them with any one of the following. These are all very sad people, but I'm sure the programming on UKTV would improve 100%.

(a) The Spice Girls.
(b) The Govenment.
(c) The Three Wise Monkeys.

As a professional film editor I really cringe at the way UK Drama amateurishly transmit programmes. Out of sequence, out of sync, VO's over dialogue, TXing the same episodes. No wonder the advertising revenue is down. How'a about sticking it all on a freeview channel? After all viewers are paying for this amateur channel. Angry

Angry WHY OH WHY can't uktv drama listen to viewers requests, after all we surely keep them in jobs. Viewing figures would not be down if they put HW on at a respectable time, regularly, without jumping series and episodes.
My wife and I love watching and get so frustrated trying to find out which episode is on and when. If uktv can't be bothered to listen to viewers requests regarding schedules then at least do the decent thing and release series 4, 5 and 6 on DVD I woudn't care if they only release them to make money at least we would get what we want. Confused Cry Frown Mad
Does anybody have the complete uninterupted series 4, 5 and 6 in any format????????

MikeM, thanks Mike for letting me know. I'd love to do a Howard's Way tour one day......

Superlative

UKTV Drama say that audience figures aren't high enough to justify showing Howards' Way, hence they were showing it at ridiculously unsociable hours and now have taken it off air completely. Yet for example today, they are showing back to back episodes of Hart to Hart, Miss Marple, Keeping Up Appearances and Last of the Summer Wine. Also recently they were showing episode after episode of All Creatures Great and Small. Who watches these programmes for hours on end then? I find it astonishing that audience viewing figures are higher for these programmes than for Howards' Way which is in fact a 'cult' series now and far better than any of the above-mentioned programmes. Bring it back and bring it back now!
