The Bill

Thanks for running the 1999 series of The Bill. It's hard to believe that only Tony Stamp and Jack Meadows are the only 2 characters still around in todays ITV1 episodes!

Loving 1999 though and my favourite storyline's coming up in the next week or 2 as Jim Carver spirals downwards into alcoholism (and Burnside pops up for the storyline too). Fantastic acting from Mark Wingett and the best acting I've seen in all my time of watching The Bill.
Try and catch it if you can! Wink

Yes, it was Don Beech who accidently killed John Bolton at a quarry whilst trying to escape. Jim Carver was nothing to do with it. Jim turned to gambling as his next vice whilst married to Sgt Ackland.

Burnside was so much like Sweeney's Regan, especially in the early days with quotes like "You're nicked! - xxxx!"

Hi Abby,

Yep, I don't remember him having an affair but he had a fight with Beech and hit his head on a rock and died.

Burnside had all the best lines in The Bill. Wink

Is that the episodes with Russell Boulter? The good-looking Scouser who had an affair with one colleague and then got murdered by another one?

I used to love Burnside. He had so many quotable lines.

"Tighter than a gnat's muff!" Big Grin Big Grin

And the way he called DS Greig a "Scotch ponce". Big Grin
