What a good idea to bring Dr Who back. What a stupid idea to show it processed to look like film! Is UKTV staffed by halfwits?

Having watched Brain of Morbius and Pyramids of Mars I have noticed scenes from episode 3 of the former where condo gets shot and the latter episode one where scarman and Sarah get a rifle have been cut.
If there is an issue of cuts for prime time viewing why are they not been shown uncut on the late night screenings on Saturday ?
UK Gold's versions were not cut.

Just been on myself to check what was going on, the whole family stop to watch Tom Baker in action. My seven year old has even decreed Tom Baker is better than David Tennant, high praise indeed. I noticed the missing Genesis of the Daleks set, what's happening there? We hope all the Tom Baker ones are put on. The wife is wondering if it's planned to start from the beginning & go right through, I now some are lost but it would be good.

Thanks for the info on Morbius. Glad it's scheduled to be shown. It really wound me up waiting for the fourth episode!
Don't they know, they shouldn't mess Who fans about!? We're good people!

Hi Travelling Matt. I believe that Genesis isn't going to be shown as some of the Dalek stories have some sort of "preset limit" on the number of times they can be shown. I wish they'd show the earlier Doctor stories too but as Tom's "my Doctor" and I've got them all on video/DVD anyway, I'm not too worried... Thanks for letting me know that Dr Who's back on from next week - but why take it off in the first place?? Drama really annoys me doing that. Take the current run of All Creatures... This was all shown just before Xmas. Why go back to the beginning and not pick up where they left off...??? I'd wish they'd leave the scheduling alone.

Yeah I noticed that!! (especially as only last week I saw a trailer for 'Dr Who..every week day at 5pm'!!)
Must be a test to see who is paying attention...
But hey I checked the schedule! ...looks like part 4 of Morbius is back as of next Monday (25th). BBC Drama is obviously dabbling in some time travel of its own here too 'cos they are showing the 4 part 'omnibus' before that on the Sunday!
Yeah I dont get what they are playing at either...
C'mon BBC sort it out.....

Why oh why has UKTV Drama suddenly taken off Dr Who in the middle of a story (Brain of Morbius) and put the dreadful Hyacinth Bucket back on. I was in heaven coming home from work to All Creatures and then Dr Who - if the powers that be are looking at these postings - sort your scheduling out and leave the programmes alone!!!! Most of all put Dr Who back on at 5pm and show us the last episode of Morbius!!!!!!!!!!

Thoroughly enjoying the re-runs of Tom Bakers era. I echo the last post.....
Please show em all!.....
Any reason we arent being treated to the dalek stories?
The re runs seemed to have skipped Genesis of the Daleks and the Jon Pertwee re-runs about a year ago, left them all out too.
Terry Nation estate asking for too much money perhaps!?

By the way - How many stories will be shown? Is "Seeds of Doom" the last, or will it continue?

Hi there - regarding the picture quality of the Tom Baker Dr Who episodes, we've reviewed the technical processes we use when working with these elderly master tapes and are confident that transmission quality will be as good as possible in future.

Just checked it again and it still looks rubbish. Also UKTV Drama played out the "Dr who is next" announcement over the last scene of murder she wrote obliterating the dialogue, if they can't get a simple thing like that right what hope is there?

Well said - I looked forward to seeing many of these stories of Tom Bakers, only to find someone has decided to show then in a "half video tape/half 16mm" format. This "technique" is creeping into and growing in regularity on other programmes, for some reason. I wasnt surprised they are broadcasting it in this way, as I notice TOP2 is also shown in this format. Please leave this process where it belongs, on 21st Century TV and broadcast it as it was originally intended to. It looses all of its atmosphere and realism. Saying that Im waiting for every scene to be shown in 5 different angles, each one milli second long, just like the BBC do when showing football goals. The broadcast is so "trans-atlantic", it just misses "canned laughter" next. Come on UK Drama, you show good programmes and are one of the best things about British satellite TV, dont ruin it for all of us. "Oh-Hello !"
