Howard's Way

Superglue look underneath the nice piccy of Jan Howard at the top of the page. Within that block if you look down you'll see it says "Post your comment" and directly underneath that it says "Stop tracking this discussion". Just click on that mate. But why would you want to stop tracking this wonderful Howards Way discussion!!! lol!

Howard's Way

UKTV Drama say that audience figures aren't high enough to justify showing Howards' Way, hence they were showing it at ridiculously unsociable hours and now have taken it off air completely. Yet for example today, they are showing back to back episodes of Hart to Hart, Miss Marple, Keeping Up Appearances and Last of the Summer Wine. Also recently they were showing episode after episode of All Creatures Great and Small. Who watches these programmes for hours on end then? I find it astonishing that audience viewing figures are higher for these programmes than for Howards' Way which is in fact a 'cult' series now and far better than any of the above-mentioned programmes. Bring it back and bring it back now!

Howard's Way

It was fantastic seeing her in Casualty all these years later sexy legs. I wish some of the other actors in HW were on TV today, although of course some of them are no longer with us!

Howard's Way

Hey did anybody see Susan Gilmore (aka Avril Rolfe) on Casualty last night and also last Saturday? She only had a small part but I instantly recognised her voice. Considering Howards' Way finished back in 1990, she looked pretty good I have to say. Ahhh it got me thinking about Howards' Way again - and how rotten UKTV Drama are for taking it off air just a few episodes before the final one. Honestly UKTV Drama you've got a lot to answer for!

Howard's Way

Hi dramaqueen38 - actually it was me who answered your questions about Ken Masters and Charles Frere - not Grizza! No problem though it was an easy mistake to make. I know the website you mean that has the comprehensive episode guide and I have also had a good read of it! Don't worry about missing a few episodes of HW - just watch the next episode as it won't take long to catch up with the story!

Howard's Way

Hi dramaqueen38 - Ken Masters does ok in the end actually. Having been taken to the cleaners by Laura Wilde (Kate O'Mara) he goes away to lick his wounds and then comes back and starts up his business again from scratch. He rents a tin pot office from Avril while he's getting back on his feet and manages to do very well for himself in the end. He vows to get Leisure Cruise back from Laura, and indeed that's exactly what he does. I say fair play to him - ok so he was a bit of a nasty creep but I didn't like Laura Wilde so I was glad when he got his own back! I didn't like the way she treated poor gullible Gerald - but that's another story! So to Charles Frere - well in the end he gets back together with Lyn Howard and she becomes pregnant with his baby. They then decide to get married - after nearly splitting up over Charles' drowning of his sorrows (in a whisky bottle) over his father's will. I'm glad they get back together actually. In fact in the last episode everything's all roses in the garden, as Jack and Vanessa prepare to depart the Mermaid Yard for pastures new, Jan's business is on the up and her mum Kate announces her wedding to the Admiral. I always cry during the last episode - without fail - but I love it and can't stop watching it!

Howard's Way

Well it's all over again but what a fantastic series Howards' Way was. I went through a box of tissues during the last episode (sad or what!). After feeling sorry for Abby in the first few series, towards the end I hated her for the way she treated Leo and her lovely dad (not the biological one) Gerald! I had a real soft spot for Gerald throughout the series - what a lovely guy (I couldn't bear Polly his wife - good actress though). Glad Gerald took over as Chairman of Frere Holdings when Charles got the chop. I also ended up having a sneaky admiration for Ken Masters - glad he got back on top and got rid of Laura Wilde (ugh! hated her character but again great actress). So sad Tom Howard wasn't in the last series (due to death of Maurice Colbourne) - what a lovely bloke Tom Howard was too. Absolutely loved Jan, Lyn, Kate (Jan's mum), Admiral Redfern, Avril, Jack Rolfe (although Jack's character was irritating at times) - oh I could go on and on - in fact I think I have a bit!!! I love you Howards' Way. Look forward to the next repeats UKTV Drama so that I can watch it all over again!!

Howard's Way

Yes thanks alexis I realised that's what you meant eventually. I've now got it on order (because I'm sad!). Anyway David says they are repeating Howard's Way from series 1 again starting May 29th. 7am is going to be difficult though - will have to set up the DVD recorder. I did see series 1 when they were showing it on Sunday afternoons - so I'm now looking foward to series 2, 3,4,5, etc. Let's hope they don't stop it midway through. By the way - as I asked you previously - were you a Dynasty fan by any chance? Did you see Joanie in Footballers Wives?

Howard's Way

How do you know that series 2 is coming out in June Alexis? Do you have inside information on UKTV? I actually e-mailed them asking when they would be showing more Howard's Way and they didn't respond. Well I most certainly hope you are right, but - June? - that's ages away! I take it you you enjoyed Dynasty when it was being shown?

Howard's Way

Oh no I'm heartbroken. It was the last episode of the last series today! So no more Howard's Way at 4pm. What sorrow. I had got so used to setting the tape up, coming home from work and putting my feet up for an hour to watch it. Equally I think last Sunday's episode might have been the last one of the first series too! I hope UK Drama at least continue with the next series on Sundays. The funny thing about UK Drama is that nobody tells you anything - I felt sure they would have said that today's Howard's Way was the last episode ever! Most people will be expecting to tune in at 4pm tomorrow to see it and it won't be on. I can't get by without my Howard's Way now - I shall wear black tomorrow sob sob!

Howard's Way

I found out quite by accident about the re-runs of Howard's Way and am absolutely thrilled about it! I love it and keep thinking back to what I was doing 20 years ago when it was first on! I love the storylines, the plots and the dodgy business dealings but most of all the fashion! Isn't it hilarious - especially Ken Masters pushed up jacket sleeves - yuk! I look forward to seeing all the different outfits that Jan, Avril, Laura and Abby wear - it's brilliant. I agree with farolito - I wish they'd revive it - or bring out something very much like it!
