New Tricks
Tuesdays at 9pm
Superintendent Sandra Pullman (Amanda Redman) and her Unsolved Crime and Open Case Squad make a return to Alibi with channel premiere episodes from series five.
Brought out of retirement, Jack Halford (James Bolan), Brian Lane (Alun Armstrong) and Gerry Standing (Dennis Waterman) make for an unconventional, grumpy but experienced and effective crime-solving team.
Series five sees the team face some tough personal challenges. There are professional and personal lives at stake when Ricky Hanon stands trial for the attempted murder of Jack; Standing's relationship with his daughter breaks down and Lane's old drinking demons resurface.
Aside from the personal strife, the team also has complicated murders to solve. Cases in series five include the death of a radio DJ in an arson attack, a prostitute who received an unexpected windfall in a client's will, and an actor's death on stage during a performance.
With guest stars including James Fox, Reece Shearsmith, Sheila Hanock, Claire Bloom, Sylvia Sims, Kevin Eldon and Dexter Fletcher, series five of New Tricks is not to be missed.
