MISSING DIALOGUE AND ENDINGS

It really annoys me when I sky+ an episode of Silent Witness and/or Waking the Dead at 1:35am or whatever time the episodes are in the early hours of the morning and I can't hear what people are saying because there are "silent moments", and I don't mean deliberatly blanked out words or sentences, during the programme. Why does this happen?
Secondly why are there times, when the episode is supposed to be a full feature length episode it gets cut off in the middle of the episode and when I'm watching I end up getting "End of recorded programme" slap bang in the middle of the episode. This is infuriating Angry because I never seem to get to see the end of an episode. This happened last week with both Silent Witness and Waking the Dead.
Am I the only one or do other people also have the same problem, which means it's not my sky+, but UKTV Drama's problem which needs to be sorted out? Confused

I don't yet have Sky+ and I get silent moments on the new "Alibi" channel, which replaced UKTV Drama. My decoder is now around 10years old and is as reliable as ever. It has to be a transmission problem, because the entire country cannot have TVs that are defective only when tuned to this frequency!

preetiv, this thread is really a duplicate of one further down the page starting "Dr Who..." If you go to the latest reply you will see my latest effort to get UKTV Drama to act. My concern is that the problem has been around for 2 months now.

I'm glad I'm not the only one this is happening to - the late night episode of Waking The Dead a couple of nights ago - the picture froze about 20-25 minutes before the end and that was it. I have no idea what happened at the end of the feature length episode.

And it's not a sky + thing as I don't have it - it's a UK TV Drama thing on normal sky, as I recorded it on video, and the sound did drop out before the freeze too.

Is no one from UK TV going to respond to this and make some kind of statement and give an explanation?

Maybe we should get a thread going just listing everytime we see this happen, then there'll be a log of it so they can let us know when they will repeat the affected episodes.

Not just you Annoyed. I haven't noticed silent moments but I Sky+'d a catherine cookson in the early hours a couple of weeks ago & that cut off part way through. Infuriating it is indeed!

I am surprised that nobody has replied to Annoyed As Hell's post of July 12th regarding these "silent moments" when the dialogue disappears before returning about 10 seconds later! I've also started to get them and I'm sure it must be a UKTV Drama issue as I don't get it from all the other satellite channels I watch. Admittedly, I don't watch UKTV Gold much these days so it might be a UKTV problem generally. Maesy did reply but I think he/she was only addressing Annoyed's 2nd point which I haven't been affected by. I have Sky and just do a timer controlled recording always adding on 10 minutes in case the programme overruns.

Hi

I have only just seen this message board, so sorry for the late response. No this happens to me as well, also happens when I Sky+ Hallmark channel. As a matter of course I now record the next programme too, which overlaps so I do not miss anything.
