Last of the Summer Wine

When I first put a thread on here I said about seeing more of Foggy But I did not anticipate this many with most of them repeated almost weekly, there are plenty more episodes made with Truly and specials at Christmas, please change the system and let us staunch LOTSW addicts see something different.

G.O.L.D. Showing LOSW all day long and more modern ones at that - heaven!

Compo, Foggy & Clegg

A couple of points, firstly the side cover of 13 & 14 is on movie mail online and the back cover is now on zavvi and tesco which comfirms the content as the first two foggy series and the xmas specials, secondly with grumpy unc's comment below I thought this time last year we only knew about the release and not the episodes and the only reason we knew the episodes is becuase there had been no confusion over series numbers and we only was guessing about "all mod conned", grumpy also says about no future releases, well you have to admit we ahve had a bumper crop of Summer Wine this year and personally think it will be 6-12 months before the next release, finally, I take no one else off this forum was at Teddington over the weekend to watch the recording of the laughter for the next series of LOTSW...

Compo, Foggy and Clegg.

By this time last year we knew the composition of the next DVD to be released and were being given advanced notice of another. We are still waiting to know what the content of series 13/14 will be and there is nothing further forecast. Does this mean we are entering yet another period barren of LOSW releases? We members of the Geriatric Armoured Brigade (Compo's Own) must continue to pressurise the powers that be to release more episodes both to TV and to DVD. Aux armes, mes amies!

I also had trouble accessing over last two days, Grumpy Bro. This morning I used UKTV Contact facility to complain. That maybe prompted some action by way of restoration of a missing link.

I shall just have to stop making refernces to the Lancashire Eccles in the light of this family tree research, oh famous one.

I thought the post credit 'punch lines' was a recent innovation. (By recent I mean post Truly arrival). There seems always to have been pre-credit action at beginning of show. Has anyone else noticed that it has always been one of promptest shows to start, particularly on UK TV? Credits have always, as far as I can recall, been over live show background (as opposed to off-screen image).
I cannot specify precise episode, but I do recall one ending with Seymour heading off in one direction expecting the other two to follow but, of course, they did not. Setting was by the stone country bridge used in those days.

But post credit dialogue seemed to come in with Alvin and Billy Hardcastle.

Anyone else been having trouble getting to the message boards? I have been unable to access them for two days now. In the end I had to go to UKTVGold and try to access the site through them, but their message boards were also inaccessable. I got here eventually by logging on to LOSW on Gold, finding Eccles last message and clicking onto that to get relayed here. Talk about a tortuous route! Anyone know what the problem is? Confused

Couldn't agree with you more, young Eccles, we can only hope that the constant repitition will eventually wear the tapes out and they will be forced to use some newer ones. But don't hold your breath. Frown

Another oddity, (I love this stuff), Wesley's shed is, as we know, bounded on one side by the river and on the other side by buildings. And yet in "There are gypsies at the bottom of our garden" when Wesley asks where he is to get a mini bus, Foggy says they should improvise and nods in the direction of the buildings where a semi derelict ambulance is to be seen sitting in a green field. Where they are standing and the direction in which Foggy is nodding is exactly where, on another occasion, Eli scoops up a bucket of water from a pool at the side of a building to put out what he assumes is a fire in the shed.

'Twere indeed I. I was repying to grumpy bro's query on the statue. I suspect I got vanished because I was being a bit idle and it was detected that I was quoting copyright material directly.

Huddersfield Daily Examiner of 10 November 2005 reported that only a few thousand of £40,000 budget had been raised and project had been dropped. It was thought that a scaled down memorial might be incorporated in a projected heritage garden in Holmfirth.

I was aiming to post 700th input but "the best laid plans" and so forth.

Think it was BigUnc, I saw the first few words on the line up section and think he was replying to my enquiry about Compo's statue. Why he got vanished I don't know.

Have been on the internet trying to find out if the proposed statue to Compo ever reached fruition. As far as I can find planning permission had been granted and work was supposed to have commenced back in 2004 but I can find no further reference to it. Does anybody know? The artist's sketch looked rather good, Compo standing against a typical dry stone wall.

Instead of "sticky", BigUnc, maybe you should have described it as "Moyest"

Right enough, it was CC who used the term "bun".

It occurred to me that in my retraction (unrepentant) I should have enhanced my description by calling the cake a "notable sticky 'currant' confection".

Then I can introduce the quote from last night's One Show:

"Was it Alistair Campbell's interest in raisins that led him to a career in current affairs?"

What I meant to say was "Oh famous Lancashire town from whence commeth a notable sticky confection" but my new spectacles confused me again. Anyway, what I did say seemed to caues amusement, provoke ribaldry and generally keep this thread going so I am appropriately unrepentant.

Is this "notable sticky confection" a cake or a bun? I still maintain it lacks the delicacy and subtlety of the neighbouring Chorley cake (still unavailable in the local ASDAs).

I thought all Seymour's sentences took fifteen minutes.

Eh Eccles old buddy don't let Big Unc liken you to a sticky bun! As Clegg said '...how can you have confidence in somebody who doesn't appreciate the Goons?' Big Grin (For the more pedantic among you Clegg may have said '...how can you have confidence in ANYBODY who DIDN'T appreciate the Goons?' - Just to prevent a bit of thread creep Cheeky)
