Thanks for your passionate feedback on Great Food Live – we’re really proud to have created the channel’s longest running show and to have Jeni as the presenter for more than five fabulous years.

Great Food Live is so successful that it’s been emulated on other food shows – so that means it’s time to move on and create more ground-breaking food shows. Happily, Jeni will continue to be one of the main faces on UKTV Food, and there are exciting plans in store for this year.

We value your views and look forward to showing you what UKTV Food does best – making entertaining and engaging telly.

Kind regards,

UKTV Food team

Programmes like Saturday Kitchen and Saturday Cooks (whatever), are pale imitations of GFL - that's the difference....surely someone in the world of broadcasting at UKTV realises that GFL as a flagship programme is a brand name that brings people to the station! More importantly it's Jeni that MAKES the show what it is....but as ever with TV land the many complaints at the show being axed will fall on deaf ears!

If the show had a sponsor, would that make a difference?

Jeni, your the best thing on TV!! You should have ur own show on network telly!!!!!

Hi, I watch every UKTV production that we get here downunder in Australia, without it I don't think I would bother switching the telly on, Robert. Smile

Amanda - if it is the case that you are planning to have Jeni back on UKTV Food in the future, would it not be a good idea to make sure Jeni is happy with you announcing this? Perhaps you should refer to her website, where you can see she is not happy that UKTV has announced her return - when she hasn't been offered anything yet.

It is to be regretted that UKTV has seriously underestimated the strength of feeling about the removal of Great Food Live, and of Jeni Barnett in particular. The company should be aware, as should their advertisers, and especially Waitrose, the sponsor of Market Kitchen, that the decision by the management of UKTV Food to end Great Food Live is having and will continue to have significant repercussions on viewing figures.

It is not too late to reverse the decline in viewing figures brought about by the termination of the programme, but time is running out and there are many other broadcast networks that would welcome her talent - and the audience that she will bring to a television channel.

Mad Get rid of boring Kitchen Market and bring back GFL and Jeni Barnett who made learning about food and cooking an entertainment and not a self-indulgent lecture. Market Kitchen is not a patch on the entertaining and informative GFL. My lunchtime viewing of UKTV Food has been curtailed.

Have to agree with many of the posts above, we are really not enjoying Market Kitchen (when I saw it advertised with Tana Ramsay I had a sinking feeling, why oh why do we need another Ramsay filling our screens?) - we switched on to see people chopping onions and then making sloppy cottage pie with clearly over-done frozen peas! Hardly inspiring! Jeni was entertaining and the chefs made some fabulous dishes which we often tried at home. UKTV food is now rarely on in our household. As for the repeats, it really does get a little tiring to see the same old programmes time and time again ...

Bring back GFL

Hi All, do you get The Iron Chef in the UK, the commentators crack me up, the Yanks have a new cooking show now where several teams compete, the commentators sound, like they are at the FA Cup.In Aussie football if a player is injured and bleeding , he must leave the field straight away, my Wife and I watched this show last week and one of the "competitors" cut his finger, my Wife said "what about the blood rule", I replied, "maybe they don't have any reserves to replace him, but then again , they could have called a "time Out" like American Football. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 10 May 2007
I am flabbergasted. How insensitive can one channel be? With the news that a little girl, Madeleine McCann, is currently missing after be abducted in Portugal you go and broadcast a programme that highlights child abductions. I understand the nature of the programme and how it helps people who have had a difficult time but why did you have to broadcast a double episode of this program at this time? With emotions running high surely you could have shown more sensitivity and common sense and replaced it with other episodes of the program?

In an Extreme Makeover Home Edition Episode shown last month Ed "The Joiner" from England sliced his hand in a very bad looking injury.

Does anyone know how he is doing ? Is he back working ? Can he work etc etc. Please pass on our good wishes. The American flag he created was just awesome. Even if he didn't get to finish it personally.

does anyone from uk tv read these comments or do you think we should target their advertisers co me think they will get the poor picture and sound problems sorted out."

Andrew I am blind ( I use special computer software to assist in the use of computer) As a blind person I tend to hear better than most people so I feel that I must take issue with your statement re poor sound quality, I would therefore respectfully suggest there is something faulty with your equipment.

Sorry to inconvenience you, I tried to post this in the correct place, but got an error message??
I am an avid treasure fan, with a few practical ideas and solutions to Kidds Treasure and the Cocos Island Treasure of Lima.

Capt. William Kidd.
Wrote letters to the House of Commons and the Lords of the Admiraly, in which he states that in return for his freedom, he would show the aforementioned, a place in the Indies, where he had deposited goods and Treasure to the value of £100,000.
As a matter of interest, a clerk in the East India shipping company of that time in History, circa 1696, was paid approx. £5. per annum.
Today that same clerk could expect to earn approx. £15,000 per annum.
An increase of about 3000%.
If the same were true of Kidds' hoard, then its' present day value would be approx. £300,000,000.

There are also a number of charts or maps which are linked to Kidd, these charts have puzzled many would be treasure hunters and Kidd experts?
Are they real?
Did Kidd draw them?
Where is the Island they portray?

Hi from Crowsnest (enjoying the view from here).

if I am Watching UK tv Gold, then Why do we have to Endure American Make over Programs on UK Tv Gold, I think the channel is called UK, NOT U.S. extreme makeover is a yet another American Cheap program, We as a nation have thousands of UK Comedies un our belt, I worked at Thames Television, We made thousands of Sitcoms, Please show them NO MORE American shows on a UK channel

Do you think the `Gold` in UKTV Gold has lost its meaning???

I`ve been a big fan of ukgold since its start, it used to be all classic uk programmes like old sitcoms & dramas. But now its all new & cheap american stuff now like prison break, and now they`ve got Christine... WHY???
Show the first episodes of The Bill, Eastenders and show some 70s stuff etc

Bring the meaning of UKGOLD back!!! - Classic & UK programming. Angry

Just seen a video on youTube of Chelmsford 123. The logo in the corner is an early UKGold. How about bringing this excellent comedy back instead of so much American shows and endless reruns of Only Fools and Vicar of Dibley (great though they are)!

I can't believe that UKTV Style doesn't understand basic English - if you're comparing two people the title of the programme should be "Who'll Age Worse" - no "Worst". UKTV? Native language? Sort it out.

I have recently noticed a photograph on the "Britains Best" section of a red squirrel at Formby Point. While I do not mind Formby Point being promoted at all, in fact I nominated it, it would have been nice to have been asked for permission to use one of my photographs. It seems as though someone has plagiarised the photo from my own web-site and uploaded it as their own. Please can you inform people that if they wish to upload photographs to make sure that they are their own work so that copyright is not breached.
I have no objection to this photo being used as Formby Point has long been a firm family favourite of ours but it would have been nice to be asked!
Thank you. Angry

I am not in the least surprised as the people who run this site don't care. I have been trying to unsubscribe for months but they don't take a blind bit of notice - their own unsubscribe link does not work!
