The comment about metal detectors, in the latest newsletter is irresponsable, unless it is tongue in cheek. People using these appliances have resulted in a lot of annoyance, and damage. The comment about The Romans assumes also. the tense is wrong also, as they are long gone. Only there history remains, and that is interpreted as those concerned wish. Looking at documentaries, and films, about The Pharaohs. They were a self interested lot, who seemed unhealthily preoccupied with death, rather like certain religions, at least the rulers were, looking at the amount time and effort, that went into the preparations for death, including The Pyramids, while the poor suffered.

Why also do UK History persist in sending E Mailed Info, in duplicate please? It must be time consuming for them. and wasteful of power. I have E Mailed them regarding this, but had neither the courtesy of a response, or any change. Perhaps the future will bring triplicate sending!

The link up with supposedly 'Green Insurance,'is a positive move.

Ancient peoples, Lost cities, Buried treasure, Shipwrecks, Adventure and Discovery.
It is the pursuit and presentation of these subjects which draw many people to Uk TV History.
If you are an armchair adventurer, you just have to switch on the TV. to have your imagination, soothed, massaged and excited by the current run of programmes.
From the safety of your armchair and living room, you can marvel at the new discoveries, of lost treasures etc. You can also decry the use of modern detector equipment, which destroys sites which would otherwise have still remained hidden and unknown and of which you would have no knowledge!!
Can you not see the irony!,
Of course once such sights have been discovered, then it is the responsibility of the finder/s, to research, log and preserve the location and artefacts.
for posterity. It is also the duty of Media companies to film and report these finds to the interested public.
The world is full of Doers, or watchers! personally I like to do both.
Recently I undertook a treasure hunt for Kidds lost millions to the Cape Verde Islands off the Atlantic coast of West Africa, using a chart which Kidd is alledged to have drawn. what an experience that was.
I am currently preparing a clandestine visit to Cocos island in the pacific off the west coast of Panama, this time I am in search of the Treasure of Lima.
This is Spanish gold from the City of Lima in peru, which was stolen and buried on Cocos by Capt. William Thompson and his crew.
I will of course be using metal detctors in my search and would you give a fig leaf for that fact if you were able to watch the expedition and its recovery of 30tons treasure?
Exactly!!

Regards and best wishes Crowsnest( enjoying the view from here).
