I have a 9 week old who manages to go for 8 hours between feeds at night. The problem is that she'll wake at 1am needing comfort but will not settle back to sleep so I end up holding her in bed for 2 hours until her feed time. How can I stop doing this? I am well aware that this is a bad habit to slip into but she won't settle back to sleep without me holding her!

Hi RachW,
Well done! Getting a 9-week-old to go for 8 hours between feeds is a minor miracle so you must be doing something right! One trick you could try is called 'dream feeding' - this is where you feed her just before you go to bed at around 11pm and take care not to wake her too much. Then settle her down quickly and hopefully she'll give you your 8 hours when you really need it...
Check out the feature called 'Sleep Tight' in our Parenting zone under Me + My Baby.
Good luck!
