I do not see, what this programme, worthy though it is, has to do with food. Surely it is more for UKTV Gardens, or UKTV People .

The subject matter, frequently referred to by a euphemism, quickly grew tedious, so I switched channels. It would have been better, to have alternated it, with other issues. 'Green,' is a wishy washy term, jumped on by various parties. How, for example, can anything which burns fossil fuels, or any kind of fuel, be 'Environmentally Concerned?' Air Travel, is an illogical example. Confused

I found the visiting chef, from The Iberian Peninsula arrogant. He kept saying 'The British Public,'as though speaking for us all. He did not define his sweeping assumption. Why should we eat a rare food like sea urchin? They cannot, in any case, contain much meat. There are those of us who find certain food s distasteful, including vegetarians, and vegans. Spain, apparently copy France, in eating anything.

I noticed also, that, as usual, the co chef, said nothing, critical, or contradictory. a lot of people, in these positions, are gutless, toadies. Heavan forbid, that the ratings should suffer. Frown

I do not agree with the OTT comment, about UK History. A lot of us older/retired people, have money. He/She must have a narrow circle of friends, 6 p.m. is not that early. I like AQOS, but do not like nearly everything related to Top Gear, with its all white chauvanists. The token woman usually being a bimbo. I find the subsctitution of UKG2 to 'Dave,' puzzling. When is Dave, the taking of whose name is presumptious, in a programme?

UK History could also have a more varied programme. However well the programmes are presented, nearly everything seems related to war, particularly 'German Knocking.' Blurgh

I am enjoying it. However, I miss Ally McCoist, on the new programmes. Matt Dawson, whom I do not remember as a player, is probably pleasant enough, but has little charisma.. I was amazed to see Jonny Wilkinson, in one of the clips, actually scoring a try. That should be preserved for posterity, as he is now, just a 'Kicking Machine,' and England lost a 'Kicking Final.'

Why though, the name 'Dave,? It is illogical. Those called Dve, hardly ever appear. What was wron with UKG? I agree with the maxim 'If It Doesn't Break Don't Fix It.' Certain staff, at UKTV, must be under employed. The logo 'The Home Of Witty Banter,' is OTT, particularly re the white skinned, poseurs, if women obligatorily attractive, to appeal to the superficial males, on Top Gear.

Embarrassed is still spelled wrongly, on the Smilies. UKTV, are either dyslexic, or stubborn. Won't in the moderation info, is also spelled wrongly.

This film/movie, which was as overrated as the profoundly titled 'Titanic,' was unsuitable for afternoon showing. The beginning was very violent, and the story line amoral. promoting the views, that 'Crime Pays,' and 'Two Wrongs Make A Right.'

UKTV seems to be going away from its remit. Bergerac, a few Sundays ago, was very violent, and showed the Jersey Police, as inept. Even with the deaths, near the end, the policeman, on the scene, scuttled around like a frightened rabbit, and was reluctant to help.

Unlike the voice over, before that Bergerac episode, I feel, that Inspector Morse, is the best Theme Tune, followed by 'Inspector Wexford.' Barrington Phelong, won more than one award. Confused

p.s. UKTV are not very efficient. I mentioned before, that one of the smilies is misspelled. Embarrassed is spelled as Emarassed. It has not been changed.

I felt, that the episode today, 09/09/07, was too violent, for 9 a.m. on any morning, particularly a Sunday.

It was more like one of the 'Lethal Weapon,' films.

U K Drama is getting increasingly violent.compared with other Subscription Channels. however, in these matters, they appear to think themselves above criticism. Popularity, being the main criteria. Confused

I feel, that certain programmes, such as 'Dalziel & Pascoe,' 'Sharpe,' & 'The Inspector Lynley Mysteries,' are unsuitable for daytime viewing, even on a Subscription Channel.

The first particularly, has swearing, called euphemistically 'Strong Language,' is there no 'Weak Language?' It also has constant violent stories. Inspector Lynley also, is hard to credit. Two mismatched people, would not be put together to work, the idea also is passe. Sharpe has always been somewhat violent.

However, popularity appears to be everything, along with LOTSW being endless, colour prejudiced, and sexist. Love Hurts, could eb rerun, that is hardly seen. Howards Way was a sub standard Dallas. Amazingly, no one, in either, seemed to get, Lung Cancer, or Sexually Transmitted Diseases, although J Rolfe, had alcoholism briefly, and a brief renaiissance, as a decent person. Frown

p.s. The 'Embarrassed Smiley.' is misspelled

Good though it is, the description in the UKTV Newsletter, is OTT.

The word 'Icon,' is over used these days. I cannot see an insipid person like the late Princes Diana, being one. Smile

'Decadent,' is an unfair term, Ihave seen it in the latest Newsletter. In any case, it is somewhat illogical, as, fromwhat I have heard, it is not in a state of decay, and a house cannot lack moral fibre.

The latest Newsletter, said 'Our Favourite U.S. Drama.' It is not mine. I do not care for any U.S. Imports, these days. L.A. law, being the last one of merit. the modern ones, are so aggressive, contain swearing, and Americans, never seem to say Please or Thank You.. They have been described as 'A Nation That Has Gone From Infancy To Senility Without Going Through A period Of Maturity.' They bastardize our language, spelling, and some of our sport. Frown

Mr R shoul have his programmes subtitled. Mr Chloresterol. He also said, that a certain pudding could not be served without cream. Why, is there a law against it? No one on UK Food, these days, seems to bother about dietary needs, or much about healthy eating. Delia apart, and her programmes are old

Get blitzing Gary, whatever that means.

The comment about metal detectors, in the latest newsletter is irresponsable, unless it is tongue in cheek. People using these appliances have resulted in a lot of annoyance, and damage. The comment about The Romans assumes also. the tense is wrong also, as they are long gone. Only there history remains, and that is interpreted as those concerned wish. Looking at documentaries, and films, about The Pharaohs. They were a self interested lot, who seemed unhealthily preoccupied with death, rather like certain religions, at least the rulers were, looking at the amount time and effort, that went into the preparations for death, including The Pyramids, while the poor suffered.

Why also do UK History persist in sending E Mailed Info, in duplicate please? It must be time consuming for them. and wasteful of power. I have E Mailed them regarding this, but had neither the courtesy of a response, or any change. Perhaps the future will bring triplicate sending!

The link up with supposedly 'Green Insurance,'is a positive move.

The silence has been deafening, re the problem, that I mentioned on this Board, some days ago. Surely others missed a chunk, at the end of the episode, and missed some of the dialogue, due to a too early Voice Over. It was the episode regarding a dog, starring the excellent Edward Hardwicke. Frown

I was annoyed with the fact, that on Friday the 1 June, the 7-00 - 8-00 episode, had the posh voice over coming in early, thus drowning the dialogue. As well, the last, and sad, few minutes, were lost.

There was no apology. Surely someone there must have noticed. This has happened before, more on UK Drama, than the other UKTV Channels. There seems to be more of an attitude these days, particularly with The Media, that if someting goes wrong, or is spoken incorrectly, pretend, that nothing has happened.

If sweetbreads,' was called 'Sheep's Testicles In A Sauce.' They would be less popular. The same goes for Edible Garden Pests. Certain of the French eat anything apparently, as long as it has a fancy name, including songbirds, which they probably call-: 'Chanson Oiseaux.'

One does get less cruel fare away from the tourist areas

The first whippersnapper, seems to beon whenever one watches. If he is not talking inarticulately about food in a Sainsburys Commercial, he is doing the same with cooking, to a group of white skinned young acolytes, about as irritating as smug Carol Vorderman. I heard, that he has bought himself a knighthood. He talks about food lacking nutrition, and praises Macdonalds, and cooks unhygienically, as well as thinking, a woman's place is in the home. Odd for a young person. H apparently.olwever, he is popular, and makes money, for tose who invest in him, the only criteria

As for the title 'The Naked Chef.' What is wrong with 'The Plain Chef,' for example? Crudity seems to be everywhere, with th earrival of Mr Blair.

Foie Gras is to me, fromwhat I have heard, very cruel. However, certain of the French, seem toe at anything, and accept any way of getting something that tastes good. Certain chefs, particularly foreign ones, are the same. Frown

This series seems, as endless as LOTSW, or OFAH. (OFAH What?) The phrase has never been finished.

It also implies, that we should be grateful. We did not invite any of these invaders, including The Romans. The series features only white skinned presenters, hardly representative of a mulicultural society. Adam Hart-Davis, is always watchable though.

It is interesting to see, that in OTT, and violent dramas like I Claudius, all the actors, looked fair, and spoke perfect English. Latin was the main language then. I noticed the same disparity, when seeing the brutal Ben Hur, in Paris. All the actors spoke perfect French. Wink

I would not call Last Of The Summer Wine, 365 days a year, TV Heaven, more like TV Hades.

Is the match v The Parachute Regiment also, the only match, that Alistair played ever? He did have an exciting time in Korea, apart from his oft promoted, 'Mule Kick.' ATGB, has it s merits though, being less frenetic, than most sitcoms.

I note also, that the three ladies, are too grand to travel by ordinary Public Transport, like the rest of us. Taxis for them, they must be wealthy.

Now, that the problems appear to be mostly over. It would be good to have something original.

Every time I turn on, it seems to be endless LOTSW, or MSW, a la Casualty, Holby City, or The Antiques Roadshow. With allies like those in Secret Army, who needed The Enemy? Embarrassed

the TV Info, gives this definition, constantly, particularly to UKTV Programmes. For example 'Dinner Ladies,' and 'Just Good Friends.'

It cannot be both, simultaneously. It makes one think of the other term Comedy/Drama, sometimes a lazy way, of doing two programmes, at once, and saving money. Wink

I agree with the contributor, who said, that UKTV neded to retink their schedules, or words to that effect.

What is the point of changing from a service, that originally started at 7 p.m., and ran until early a.m., if the programmes are repeated endlessly? The original start time was suitable. In fact, it changed, for a time, to 9 p.m.

Last Of The Summer Wine, Murder She Wrote, & Only Fools And Horses, are apparently, as endless, and soapy, for that reason, as Casualty, Holby City, and The Antiques Roadshow. The last has cheapened its title, and itself, for the sake of ratings, and quantity, over quality. Embarrassed

I get the problems, on all the UKTV Channels, that I watch. I find it frustrating too, when picture, and sound, are out of sync. It seems to affect A Question Of Sport, the most. I have also noticed, 10-15 minute sound losses, on video playbacks. I tend to fast forward, through the commercials. Confused

Thank you Jane for your courtesy. The ITV Subscription Channels, e.g. give me very little trouble, after a new Digibox was fitted.

I would have appreciated also, an explanation, as to why the Info E Mail Address, is wrong. E Mails to -: info@uktv.co.uk, just get rejected. Embarrassed

I have seen, that the episode tonight at 6 p.m., is the same as last night, at the same time. Presumably, the episodes thereafter, will be the same.

Do UKTV G2, not bother to check, or are they just too lazy to change?

This is in keeping with a Contact Us E Mail address, that is inaccurate. They obviously do not want to know their defects though.

I enjoyed the consecutive episodes of HIGNFY, from 9 p.m., last night though. Frown
