>Who is Paul Martin?

Meet Paul Martin
Flog It is back on our screens this week. So what makes its presenter, Paul Martin, tick?Read more about this
Know how you feel Floella - I've registered with the BBC Antiques site and can't get to join in the message board discussions - frustrating ain't it
Have managed to get on the BHFI board tho'
Perhaps we're being limited to just how much we can talk about PM lol!
aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
No Flog It today or tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no, DaisyDee, you're right - no Flog It
Just stoopid bloomin' racing
It's probably just as well for me because my boys are coming home from a week in Germany
and will have loads to talk about - so I can give them my full attention
Hubby will also be back tonight so, when the boys are in bed, I'll treat him to a couple of my recorded Flog It's and he can put his PM mask on, I'll put my Bluebell outfit on (yes, it still does the trick!) and away you go...

Darius Fan, how are you? Did you get my last personal message? Did you have a lovely time with Darius? Have you told him about Paul yet?
I've taped Bargain Hunt for my daily fix of antiques and auctions (it's better than nothing). At least there's an hour-long Flog It! every day next week
Phew thanks for that Flogitfan, don't have next week's listings yet, and was beginning to wonder if Flogit had finnished.
Floella - you made me laugh - but if dressing up as PM's dog does if for your hubby - who am I to giggle lol!
I'm re-running my Flogit tapes to get my fix - I spend so much time looking at Paul that I often miss what is actually going on in the Sales Room!
Did anyone notice that he said he was a vegetarian during his visit to Wymondham? He obviously doesn't like eating animals - aw bless, I'm almost with him on that one
Floella, I did indeed get your message and I had an amazing time with Darius! An acoustic set and an evening gig- front row for both!! I also got loads of kisses and hugs. Sigh!! Such a pity he wasn't wearing his kilt! I wish PM would wear one! Phwoar! I noticed a new Valuation day in Hereford has been added to the site. I hope this means there might be more Midlands ones, because if there's one nearish to Birmingham, then I'm going to have to go to it!! God knows what I'd take. knowing my luck, kate would be presenting it! If I could guarantee that Paul was presenting, I'd probably go further afield.
DaisyDee - The Radio Times doesn't say much about next week's Flog Its (apart from the fact that it is on) but I've just been onto the BBC2 listings page on the BBC web site - it goes up to next Thursday and it looks as if Paul is presenting all of them

Hello ladies - you lot do make me laugh. You're like a bunch of teenagers over this guy! Personally, I don't fancy him. I look at him and think 'I ought to fancy you, but I don't'. I think it's the forced smiles and gestures, and the fact that he says and does everything the BBC tell him to! What I do like is his genuine fascination for antiques, particularly his beloved furniture, and he conveys that love without fuss or pretension. He recently remarked that he hasn't got expensive tastes. I liked that. I think he's probably a very genuine person under the BBC persona.
I admit to being a little attracted, though - enough to find this chatboard!
He once said he had Romany blood and, as Falmouth was one of the ports through which the Irish immigrated, he's probably from Mediterranean/Irish stock. They didn't get far from the boat, did they?
Yes, his shop and the flat are for sale - £440,000 if anyone's interested! It's advertised on one of the well-known property sites and the ad includes not only a picture of the shopfront, but interior pictures of the kitchen, bathroom, a bedroom and two of living room. This last has, in the foreground, pictures of himself and Bluebell - probably thought it would help sell the place, Notting Hill style. I have to say it's very attractive and comfortable - and very manly. Not a girly touch in sight! It's not for me, though - no garden. The 440 grand would not be a problem, of course . . .
For his sake, I hope he's keeping the business on if not the shop. This TV antiques bubble will burst eventually. Probably sick of you lot pressing your noses up against his plate glass and is desperate to get his privacy back! I live about 20 miles from Marlborough but have not been tempted to seek him out - and, no, you can't come and stay!
Hope you find this interesting. Bye, Paulies!
Very interesting PC, thanks for your input - yes we do feel a bit like teenagers again - good innit!
"and he conveys that love without fuss or pretension."
Yes he does love good solid (Welsh) furniture, but I think what you says describes the man - which is what we like about him - we think he is very genuine and the BBC recognise this and allow him be to be himself. Obviously he has to take direction as everyone in the media does - but I do not think he is false or forced in any way. He is a good looking guy, but he also has a natural warmth and charm.
I too have famous people who live nearby and I'm not tempted to seek them out either - I don't see any point. But if I lived near Paul - hmm - think I may be tempted to 'bump' into him lol!
So where I do I find this 'well known' estate agent's site then - give us a clue!
Particularlycenturions - you say that you don't fancy PM, but you seem to have studied him fairly closely! I think that as presenter of the programme he has to do as he is told when he's doing the introductions and voice overs, but I feel that he is just being himself at the valuation days and auctions. I like the way that he seems so genuinely interested and willing to learn when he talks to people in the 'educational' segments of the show. However I do agree with others who think that he should cut down on the arm waving!
I make my friends laugh for acting like a teenager over darius and now, PC, I make YOU laugh for acting like a teenager over Paul! Well, I'm just glad I'm bringing a little happiness into so many lives! If I did indeed live near Paul-or Darius- I would never dream of pressing my face against their windows. I would neve infringe on his private life in any way- even if I saw him walking along the street I certainly wouldn't go up to him.But at a Valuation Day or Auction, he is there in his capacity as a TV presenter and would therefore expect people like me to approach him. I, too, love his passion and enthusiasm for his subject. I think that although he is an incredibly handsome man, that is what makes him so appealing. Scoff all you like at our teenage enthusiasm, PC- most of us are refugees from the BBC site and are used to it!
Hello PC! I'm glad we make you happy
! I can't understand how you don't fancy him - are you sure you've really tried hard enough?! You've certainly done your research - you've taught me things about him that I didn't know already! I'm very pleased that you appreciate his genuine enthusiasm for furniture - it was this that first drew me to him, so there's hope for you yet
Just out of interest, is there anyone you do fancy?
I was only going to post once, particularly as a large chunk of my original post was cut by the mods, a chunk that took away most of the point I was trying to make.
I'm just an old cynic, ignore me. Have met more than one single man in his forties who comes across as warm but isn't when you get to know him. The ones that prefer the single life. I'm fed up with being attracted to that type. I think Paul Martin just makes my barriers shoot up, that's all!
Just one other thing - nobody here was attracted to him first and foremost because of his love of furniture - come off it! If that were true you'd all be drooling over John Bly.
Won't post again. If what's left of this post doesn't make entire sense, blame the mods. Or me, as you choose. Bye. Happy drooling.
Sorry to disappoint you PC, but I can say with all honesty that it was definitely Paul's enthusiasm, cheerful personality and passion for antiques which first attracted me to him. It was only when I started reading the BBC message board that I noticed how good looking he is (others may find this hard to believe!)
Hi girls, Lorna2 here
sadly I don’t much chance to log on and post stuff on here, I’m not on the internet at home, so I have to do it whenever I get the chance at work :( I can hear the violins from here
I have certainly had some catching up to do… can’t think of much else to add really, other than Paul is still sexy, still cute, still charming, still gorgeous, still talented, still adorable, still has a huge female following and still hasn’t visited this site yet. Or maybe he has. Maybe PC was someone who knows him or is someone famous who is really irritated by little girlies following them around, mmmm seems to know an awful lot about him. Who cares if we are acting like teenagers, at the end of the day Paul is lovely and we’re just having a little bit of fun on here. Wouldn’t the world be a sad place if we were all that serious
Keep up the good work ladies…… x x x x

Blondee - shame you can't contribute more - I agree with everything you say
PC - shame your post got cut - would like to have been able to read it all - you can always join the BHFI site @ yahoo and say pretty much what you like (no rude words please lol!)
I had a whole post cut - think it was because I included an email address - which turned out to be obsolete anyway - so think yourself lucky that you got some of it posted
I started watching Flog It because of the type of programme it is, I watch it regardless of who's presenting - but Paul is a bonus
and I think he will go from strength to strength - the BBC aren't going to lose their 'fabulous find'.
Hello All...
I'm new to *this* board, but a few of you may recognise me from other far flung lands!
Just wanted to say "hello!" & thank you all for making me smile over the past weeks with your PM chit-chat...
I, like yourselves am a Paul admirer - It's reassuring to know I've got somewhere to go where folks don't think I've lost my marbles!
Something occured to me - Paul looks uncannily like James Taylor did when he was a touch younger... Could explain my PM attraction, as I had a soft spot for JT for years! (...Voice like an angel!)
Anyhoo, that's beside the point...
Like I mentioned, I just wanted to mutter my thanks, to ALL of you - Please keep me smiling.
Love & Cuddles,
grumble-weed

Good morning fellow droolers! Went away for two days and upon my return discovered that i had 50+ e-mails, the majority of which were from this site!!! I've only read a few so far. DaisyDee, i too have just joined the BHFL fanclub- joanna_pendlewitch (wouldn't let me use just joanna), i'm going to put some pics on when i get round to it. You really should have gone to the Flog It's you know, you have to seize every opportunity
. Oh yes, i've been through the pages and i know all about PM, Canada's PM that is!
Hello DaiseyDee, good question about the valuation day set up. I didn't go until about one thirty and waited about an hour to actually get into the room, which wasn't too bad. On tv you get the impression that people are walking around looking at whats being valued on the tables, i can't say for any of the other venues but it wasn't like that at Skipton. You just sat on chairs around the room and moved along until it was your turn.
Like Darius said, Paul does walk around looking at what people have brought etc, however he only came near us once, and at that point i got my husband to grab him for a pic. Perhaps i give off bad vibes, whilst waiting outside he came out and walked right along the queue thanking people for coming and being so patient. I was alone at the time (my husband had gone for some food) and Paul didn't say a word to me, then again, i was pretending to be looking for something in my bag
........erm, what was i saying about seizing every opportunity....
Daisydee, like flogitfan said, if you look the date of an article and his age that it gives, then it works out that he would have been 45 last January. I know he doesn't look 45, i would have said late thirties also. I found This is Wiltshire and the Marlborough Times (think its called) i was surprised that there wasn't more features on Paul.
Blondee, you could try contacting Flog It! I e-mailed them a couple of weeks ago with a question and they repied within a couple of days.
Hey flogitfan, that somebody was me! You got a copy then
. The article said about Paul's new programme- Back to the Roots, and how he thinks he is a pin-up for the over sixties!!! And i also asked on the BBC messageboard if any Paul Martin fans knew about this site, then it didn't work properly.
Hi Floellaebony, i did e-mail the BBC about Back to the Roots but they havn't repied
Phew! I've just finished reading all your posts, i can't keep up with you all!!! I'd like to go to another valuation day but it would be so disappointing if 'the man' wasn't there. I like Paul for the whole package not just his looks, but i would still watch Flog It! even if he no longer presented it, though i admit it wouldn't be quite as interesting....
All the droolers who would love to step into his girlfriends shoes, you never know he may be really boring, he might talk about bread and cheese cupboards and Windsor chairs all night long
, then again i suppose that wouldn't be that bad
I found the estate agents brochure, i can picture Paul- a few lit candles in the bathroom, having a nice hot soak with essential oils, all relaxed with a glass of red wine in his hand, his hair all wet, his tanned skin glistening in the half light....mmmmmm.....
I think that by now, those of you who enjoy searching for PM information on the web have found the estate agents brochure. Here are a few other clues to sites where I have found PM information (and pics!). 1. His visits to Portmeirion, Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society, Portsmouth Dockyard and Kingston Hospital. 2. The FI item about cariacatures called Groggs. This morning this led me to a Darius message board with a long thread about Paul and some nice pics (no prizes for guessing who was responsible for that!). Happy hunting.
