DaisyDee, i think that Paul is now 45! Thats if my calculations are right (could be wrong?). He has really beautiful skin, he must look after it well considering that he gets quite a lot of sun.

I also think Paul has a Mediterranean look about him- he has a lovely complexion and smouldering looks. Sigh!! It's so good to be able to come to a messageboard devoted entirely to Paul, where we can drool and sigh over our man without being considered sad! I hope he's presenting today's BBC episode as I need my Paul fix really badly! I tend to tape the programme, and fast forward to the Paul bits, unless Mark Stacey is on it because i like him (not fancy, you understand!)

"I would just like to add that Paul looked exceptionally nice yesterday (Monday) in his white shirt, yummy yummy yummy "

Yep, I was going to comment on that myself, but like others here, suddenely found that it was wa-ay past my bedtime lol!
He looked all spruced up, and that sparkling white shirt looked so great against his dark hair. (Paul - if you ever read this, we aren't sycophantic - we just appreciate a nice, well turned out feller) Big Grin
Mind you, we do tend to notice rather a lot - I too noticed the loosely worn watch, and I was thinking how annoying I would find that - I hate it when my watch slips out of place - I don't wear bangles because they annoy me lol

Joanna - I read on Paul's page that he was 41, and on David Barby's site that he had a birthday on 5th Jan (easy to remember - same date as my brother's - won't be forgetting bruv's b'day in future lol)
I thought he was around 38, can't believe he's 45 - where did you get that info from?

Ah, the times I've come home from work, hoping to sit down and see Paul on that day's recording of Flog It and found Kate Alcock presenting - aargh! Eek

Went over to the Antiques Board and read all the messages there, joined, but so far not been able to post Confused
Also joined the BHFI site and looked at all the lovely photos - I'm curious to know from those who've been to Flog It days, just how mad it is, I imagine 100's turning up and having to wait hours to see any of the Presenters. Are you kept separate from them, or can you just go up to them and have a chat? I'm beginning to wish I'd gone now - Paul has been to both Cambridge & Peterborough and I'm just a few miles from both!
Joanna - if you type into your browser 'paul martin antiques' it should take you to the url - unfortunately (as others have probably discovered) Canada's PM is also called Paul Martin so you have to trawl through pages of urls to find anything on our Paul Frown

Hi DaisyDee! In answer to your question about Valuation Days, you have to queue up and wait your turn. Paul tends to walk about the venue, looking at what people have brought in and signing autographs. You have to judge it right if you want to talk to him, because if he's doing a valuation, he can be sat at a table for an hour or so. I was very cheeky and went to my second valuation Day in Gloucester just long enough to get my photo taken with him. We waited about an hour and then grabbed him. Afterwards, we left without having our things valued- we weren't bothered about it. The main objective was to meet Paul. Some may call it sad, but he was lovely and his smile on the photo...sigh!!

Hello there fellow Paulettes Smile this is great, there are loads of us on here now ! and well done to the other Lorna for setting up a fansite, and very nice it is too. Would be even better if his Royal Gorgeousness visited it and then found this message board, he would be soooo chuffed. Soon we could be having Paul Martin conventions Big Grin but wouldn't we love to know who the lucky lady is he has decided to share his life with? as I said before, I just hope she looks after him and the main thing is, of course, that they are both happy, there are plenty of us waiting in the wings Wink Does he have an agent? or somewhere where we can get signed piccies etc? as many of us have stated, there is very little info about on him, but I get the feeling things will change as more and more people discover him Big Grin

I too had worked out that Paul is 45 (although he would be a year or two younger in the repeats that we are seeing at the moment). In my searches for information about him, I found an article in the archives of a website called This is Wiltshire - it was published in June 2002 and said that he was 42. The article describes how Paul was spotted quite by chance when a BBC film crew was on location in Marlborough - as a result, he was invited to do a few screen tests and the rest is history as they say. The series producer described him as "a truly fabulous find" (hear hear!)

Aha - I'm able to respond at last I thought I'd been locked out! Been trying to post a message for the last hour! Angry
Thanks for the heads up on The Wiltshire Post Flogitfan - it made for very interesting reading. Hard to believe that Flogit has been around since 2002 - I must have missed an awful lot of shows :-(
Hopefully they will show them all again from the beginning Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin
Amazing how he was discovered - I see it was a female who noticed him lol!
BTW - have sent Paul a brief email asking him to drop in on this board and leave a message for his (adoring) fans - so we shall have to see what happens. Hope we don't scare him to death - we're really very nice, aren't we girls? Cool Smile Wink

Can someone tell me why the message box keeps disappearing please! Angry

Lorna - it would be nice if you could incorporate a message board facility on your site - are you able to do this? Also I'd love to see 'our favourite pic' of Paul on your home page Wink

How great is this?! Checking my emails today I was stunned to find that there were 21 new posts to this discussion - I laughed out loud Big Grin! So glad it's finally working properly, I do hope Paul has a sneaky look, I don't think he will be frightened - there's no need for him to be Hug after all we are all sending out lust, sorry, I mean love Cheeky ! It's also really funny to think of us all rushing home to watch Flog It! yesterday and then groaning out loud when it was poor old Kate Tongue - If you are reading this Paul, I hope all these messages give you a clue as to just how gorgeous you are - in personality as well as in looks Hug

Somebody on the BBC board said that the December 2004 issue of the Antiques & Collectables magazine had an interview with Paul, so I ordered a copy and it arrived today. It says that he has presented over 150 episodes so there must be loads that I haven't seen (I only became hooked on FI a few months ago). I would love to see some of the very early ones to see what he was like when he was completely new to television.

Hi again DaisyDee. I will be putting a guestbook onto my website tomorrow night! I created it last Thursday, and you need to have had the website a week before you create one, so tomorrow night it is!

Joanna- wow! You stayed up until 4 o clock in the morning to post on here, when you had to be up for work at 6! Eek Now THAT's what I call dedication! Wink

Flogitfan - I got my copy of the magazine today too! The article doesn't tell us much more than we already know except he talks a bit about "Back to the Roots". I wonder when that will be on... I was disappointed that there weren't more photos, just a tiny one on the cover and the same one a bit larger inside. That said, the photo is lovely. He looks quite flushed and a little bit shy - just gorgeous Big Grin I get the impression that he has absolutely no idea of just how attractive he is and that makes him all the more sexy Cheeky !!

Looks like one of my posts has been deleted - perhaps because I put in a remote email address - for any of you to contact me offline - it's not my proper one (not that daft moderators!) Just wondered if the mods would reinstate the message without the email address - if that is the offending part?????

As Floella says, the article is mostly things that we already knew (nice pic though). One new snippet of information is that he shared a pitch in Portobello Road with his then girlfriend selling antique suitcases (he later had his own stall). He modestly describes himself as "the pin-up for the over 60s" and says how much he loves talking to the public at the valuation days. He comes over as a genuinely nice chap who thoroughly enjoys his job and I agree that he would probably be surprised to discover that people find him so attractive -but this modesty and naturalness is part of his tremendous charisma.

"-but this modesty and naturalness is part of his tremendous charisma. "

Oh I do hope all this interest in him isn't going to change him Frown
It will take a strong person not have their head turned with all this attention.

Found out a bit more info on Paul from the BBC antiques website - it says he likes nothing more than rooting around in an old barn and digging out chicken manure covered antiques!
Also his favourite pastime is trout fishing in the evening then cooking the fish on a campfire under the stars - need a chef Paul? Wink

How do you get the BHFI stuff on Yahoo? I have registered but didn't get any further! Been thinking about how he looks so good...I reckon it's good, clean living, good eating, happy thoughts and generally enjoying life! You can tell by his enthusiam that he really loves his job and genuinely enjoys talking (and listening) to people Big Grin Other presenters just seem to make small talk and aren't particularly interested in the person's response because they're too busy looking back at the camera.

I found the brochure of his shop- very nice too! Wink

I also found out that someone stole a clock from his shop a few years ago Eek it's on the 'this is wiltshire' site. I just typed 'Paul Martin Flog It' into the search engine. First of all I searched for just Paul Martin, and got about 200-odd, lol!

Yes Lorna - as you will have discovered, you get a load of stuff about the Canadian prime minister if you just search for "Paul Martin" In order to find things about our Paul, you need to add in words associated with him such as flog it, antiques, furniture, marlborough, falmouth etc. I also find that it helps if you put UK in the search (I'm a professional searcher, but the information I have to look for in my real job is much less enjoyable!)
