Those photo image floor tiles are lovely (they're cork tiles with photo on top). Very expensive unfortunately, I think about 30psm.
I've got a cheap way of doing everything as you'll see by the posts I make - comes from years of hardship!
To make your own customised floor...
You need a decent colour printer and a PC (if you don't have one a friend usually will have).
Tile your floor with thin unvarnished cork tiles (very cheap). Make sure they're stuck down well.
Find a picture/photo that you like - could be pebbles, could be cartoon characters for a kids floor...
Using a thin grade of A4 white paper (Tesco sell a 70gsm cheaply at a couple of quid per ream, 500 sheets), print out however many copies you need. Cut out what you want and stick down to the floor (doesn't matter about matching joins in cork).
Once everything is stuck down give it a couple of coats (minimum) of clear varnish.
For those who've done this before on furniture or whatever you will recognise the technique as 'decoupage'. If you're a crafty type of person with some time to spare you'll enjoy this job as you're making something very personal to you. I'm doing the downstairs bathroom in my new house in this way. (once they've finished removing the asbestos and will give me the keys, that is!)
