I have watched various programmes and the designers using a "Floating" shelving system which uses a metal rail with rods protruding from it. After you have secured the rail to the wall the shelf just slots onto to rods so that no support is shown. I need a system which will support more than the average weight. Can anyone let me know where to buy these as all the stores I have looked in do not have them in stock.

have you tried Ikea? or i think i remember B&Q selling them, so try the larger Warehouse stores.

Ikea stock these - ask for the LACK shelves. At just 12 each they're a bargain!
