Kay,

Try using light colours, which will give the appearance of space. Using deep colours will make it look dark and dingy maybe.
Another idea you might consider is to place a mirror opposite the window. This will bounce the light around the room making it brighter.
Hope this helps.

Natural colours/tones work well in room with not much light. A soft linen/cream with natural light wood accessories looks nice. Try gold as the accent colour e.g plantpots, cushion covers etc. Use plenty of table lamps and/or candles. :D

I would use metallic accents with a neutral colour along with mirrors and indirect lighting. If the natural light is insufficient-agument it with buffet table lamps and candles, Use a mirrored table runner with lit candles at meal time. Instead of thinking that the room is gloomy aim for intimate.

hello hope this can help,
you should try and use a very neutral palet, creams and whites.
Also use the same idea on the floor and ceiling.
Use a mirror to reflect the light around the room
and try to not to make much clutter!
use light curtains, and have maybe one accent colour so that the essence of the room is not lost!
happy to be of help
